December 8th. Lloyd Marshall is in the "modern category" of the International Boxing Hall of Fame... Murderers' Row is coming back in spirit to collect their dues. Lloyd is joined by "Old-Timers" Billy Miske, Rocky Kansas, and Young Corbett II.
It's pretty cool yes, but to be perfectly honest I have lost all respect for the IBHOF. What with so many disputed, inducted fellows standing side-by-side with the absolute cream it has completely lost its meaning! No disrepect to the brilliant Marshall of course, but I think a good ol' article is a better tribute than shoving you in the 'HOF'.
I think it's total bull**** that Charley Burley was inducted almost straightaway, thanks to the praise he's gotten from the likes of Archie Moore and Eddie Futch, while equal or more deserving Murderer's Row like Marshall, Bivins, and Williams had to wait for a decade or more. By now, we should be talking about Eddie Booker being inducted, let alone Marshall.
I'm not sure Booker, Cocoa Kid or Lytell will make it in...just a bad feeling I have. Marshall could easily have been one of the first names in there IMO.
