What are those if you dont mind telling us. I remember Hlaatshwayo from when he edged out Nate campbell.
Well Fernandes is Ike's original trainer from way back when he was coming up. He was in his corner for the Holt beatdown. He then moved to, the biggest/most well known trainer from SA, in Nick Durandt.Where he picked up the IBF title and a very very lucrative sponsorship... And apparently with only a few weeks to this defense I believe he moved back to Fernandes. The above is jus what Iv heard coming from people in the loop with team Ike. To me its jus a long story after another, one could almost turn it into a soapie...Either way he got owned by sum1 who really shouldnt have even been in the ring with him (Ranking wise)
8 but all of them come from the time when he was only part-time fighter, part-time kickboxer and also had to work in different places to make a living. Now being fully focused on boxing he is beating top opponents.
Zaveck? One against Jackiewicz, but it was a somehow controversial decision (I'd say because of Pole's home field advantage). Edit: I checked - 113-116 116-113 114-115 for Jackiewicz.
Jackiewicz is a tough guy to score. Pure counterpuncher, but not in a pretty way. He probably benefits from fighting in Poland generally. But that's not to say his wins were illegitimate. I scored the Rodriguez fight for Rodriguez, but I could easily see how someone could have scored it for Jackiewicz. The Zaveck fight was probably along those same lines.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1w7_aqECrE[/ame] Zavec was really strong. I believe he was in much better shape that when fighting Jackiewicz. Now he could really go high. But this is my opinion. I am not the real boxing expert and slovenian. But check the video. You will see.
Good post, darmi!:good I ve seen some of Zaveck's fight over the last few years.Pretty decent fighter but feather fisted and quite one-dimensional. He wont reign for long though!
Odo, how feather fisted. Check what he did yesterday. That were definitely no feather fists. Dont you think?
Lets not carried away, memo! It takes more than one swallow to make a summer, dont you think so? I ve seen some of his fight over the last few years. Feather fisted may sound a little bit too harsh, but he usually cant crack an egg when matched with durable but beatable opponents.Whats more he is quite predictable adn one-dimensional. I dont want to harp on his weak spots.Honour where honour is due! He impressively dethroned the African world champ on his home turf! Well done job:good He is a pretty decent and sound fighter and a very likeable human being, big at home in his native Slovenia. Nevertheless,he has defied his destiny as he belongs to that group of fighters who showcase their skills on undercards of small fight shows against limited opponents up to the time they find their match. All the odds are against these kind of fighters. They dont win their fights in spectacular fashion, they are no main fighters, they dont have any significant tv support, they dont have the right passport,they....... . Zaveck has defied his destiny! I am happy for him. But ............I dont think that he will be a long reigning champ!! Sorry,mate!!:-(
Yeah, I didn't want to say that his win was illegitimate, it was pretty even. It was quite controversial though iirc.
I remember the first time I heard of Zavec like it was yesterday...it actually was yesterday. I hadn't even had a chance to see Isaac fight and hadn't heard of him until I saw him picking up the belt that should either be Clottey's, Cotto's or Pacquiao's. Now we got this guy with a title. I have homework on him to do.
Well noone really cares about IBF title, so....and he showed he can fight guys like Jackiewicz. Who knows what will happen.
Thanks Odo for you reply. I wanted to hear an opinion from a foreign (not slovenian) guy who knows something about boxing.
Here's a full quality video of the 3rd round: http://tvslo.si/predvajaj/zavec-nokavtiral-hlatshwayo/ava2.53116638/
