Sugar Ray Leonard.

Tommy Hearns is my favourite of them though. Watched a fight of his the other day. Double knock down against some bum at light heavyweight. Absolutely beautiful right hand though. This was in the mid to late nineties, so he was well past his best, but still had that amazing punch.

Wish I could remember the name of the guy he was fighting. It was an amazing right hand.

agreed, Duran for me.
Not many expected a guy who had gone up so many weights to run Hagler than close. Many people don't realise that the slightly chubby, bearded guy in the fab 4 fights and beyond was a beast at lower weights long before that.

 

It is an unfair question because Duran took on the 'other' guys when they were all younger and bigger than him. Duran won the world lightweight title in 1972 and made 12 defences (11 early) before the 1980s, when he faced Leonard, Hager and Hearns at weights one could not conceive from an ex-lightweight. What I am trying to say is that Duran was only beatable when he got old and jumped up the weights, shades of the immortal Sugar Ray Robinson.

 

Ray Leonard. He beat Hearns and Hagler at their best. Duran was a different animal back at LW.

 

He most definitely did not beat Hagler at his best.

 

Sugar Ray, he beat them all didnt he, and defo beat Hagler, didnt get hit

 

Leonard. Achievement, bravery, skill, speed, excitement, and the first fight with Duran is a 15 round masterpiece of aggression, intelligent pressure, infighting, and power punching.

Hagler-Hearns was three rounds of mayhem, but Leonard-Duran I was fifteen rounds of two awesome fighters beating the bejeesus out of each other.

 

Sugar Rays 2nd fight with Hearns which was awarded a draw, how? Even worse decision that the Hagler - Leonard fight.

Hagler was my favorite

 

Hagler was far from his best. Nevertheless, it was still a great achievement.

 

Duran, no question.

He managed to compete with all the others despite the fact that they were all younger than him and much heavier. People forget how much of an absolute beast Duran was at 135. To have been able to compete at Welter, Middle, Light Heavy is an achievement in itself. To be able to do it at that level against those guys was an unbelievable feat

 

Clearly Duran, who is a top 10 ATG (I have him at 5)

 

Probably the best ever Middle (Id say so) but not approaching Durans level of greatness.
