Promoter Frank Warren was keen for the 30-year-old to take on champion Kevin Mitchell in February after the Englishman outpointed Khan's conqueror, Bredis Prescott to claim the vacant lightweight belt 12 days ago.

But Alex Morrison, who was at ringside in Newcastle to witness Mitchell's win on the undercard of Khan's shortlived world title showdown with Dmitriy Salita, rejected the offer.

If Limond has some work to do that he sees as being more important than a big headline fight then he should do the work, I mean he probably sees that as his future after boxing anyway so wants to get to a level where he is earning decent pay because he won't be getting the extra pay days that boxing used to provide.

Still, if I was him I would have took the chance - I mean what exposure has he had since the Khan fight?
