I'm not particularly enthused by the Pavlik-Espino match-up. I like watching Pavlik fight, don't get me wrong, but I think this should be a fairly standard fight for Pavlik and I'm just not that pumped up to watch it.

It is good to see Pavlik back in action, though.

For me, the next fight I'm excited for is the January 30, 2010 scrap between Andre Berto and Shane Mosley. It's about 6 weeks away, and there's plenty of trash talk and ill will already generated for the bout.

I want Mosley to win and I think he will win, pretty handily, too, unless age finally catches up with him.

What's the next boxing card/fight you're eager to see? :think

Mosley-Berto off the top of my head. Haven't really checked if there is any other card that interests me between now and then.

Definitely the Lopez-Luevano/Gamboa-Mtagwa doubleheader in January. I'm relieved it's going to be on regular HBO instead of those crappy Top Rank pay-per-views.

Lopez-Luevano will be really good. I feel like Gamboa-Mtagwa won't be all that great and that Gamboa will run through him. I'm a firm believer that Lopez was caught on an off night that night and was having trouble making weight and Mtagwa had a really good night. Lopez is in a legitimately dangerous fight against luevano; gamboa is in kinda soft again i think.

In theory Pavlik should run through Espino faster than pureed prunes through an old woman. I'm going to buy it because I'm not a fair weather fan. I don't give a flyin' **** about $40 bucks, and I don't abandon my guys, but I'm not exactly excited about it.

I can get a little bit jacked up about Mosely/Berto. I think Shane is going to put a beating on Berto, and I've been waiting for that to happen for awhile now.

I want to see Darchinyan back in action. He claims he wants to make another attempt at bantamweight, and there are rumours of Vic on a Hopkins/Green card.

I don't usually give a **** about PBF, but I do want to see Pac/PBF.

George Peterson pissed off the Bob Father, and if you've followed boxing for more than a week, you know what that means. (See Rafael's blog.) Plus a lot of people think Williams needs to rematch Martinez. So, Pavlik/Williams is probably doomed. Arum is talking about Pavlik/Sturm/Bute in March/April. Either one sounds good to me.

There's quite alot of fights in January of interest for me:

01/11 - Satoshi Hosono vs Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym for WBA Super Bantamweight title

01/23 - Juan Manuel Lopez vs Steven Luevano for WBO featherweight title

01/23 - Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Rogers Mtagwa for WBA featherweight title

01/30 - Mads Larsen vs Brian Magee for Super middleweight European belt

01/30 - Shane Mosley vs Andre Berto for WBA & WBC welterweight title

IMO a great start of the year :thumbsup
