Is Willie Limmond simply just a waste of talent???

I really wish the guy the best in life, but the fiasco of turning a big fight down to crack on with 'some big jobs' annoys the hell out of me. All year long i have heard people are ducking wee willie, nobody wants to fight willie, nobody gives willie a chance crap.

Willie is in a win-win situation, if he fights mitchell and wins then the big fights will come and he can become a full time well paid pro. If he loses, so what he can always go back to his day job and he will have a decent purse to tide him over.

Sick to death of hypocrasy in boxing recently, this is by far one of the worst examples recently. Only Kelly Pavliks 'my hand is still damaged, so i need to postpone Williams fight again' and then fights espino only 2 weeks later, has pissed me off more...

I expect pelters off the scots and limmond fans but i am only pointing out the truth...

I take it you've not seen Willie's posts from earlier in the week?

I have always enjoyed watching Willie Limond box. A true pro and an excellent technical boxer who was, let's be honest only a punch or two away from stopping Amir Khan (And many other referees may well have stepped in).If Willie had been a more powerful puncher he would imo have been a sensation!! If Willie is walking away from boxing then he obviously must feel it is the best decision to make, for him and his family. Good luck Willie lad and all the best!!

Holmesy that isn't a catch 22 situation. A catch 22 is a no win situation, the situation you have explained is clearly a win win situation :huh

A man's got to put food on his table, if Willie decides that he is better off doing his joinery jobs rather taking the time off to get himself in shape for a fight with Mitchell than so be it IMO.

    Good Luck Willie

Best of luck to the lad too. Hasn't had many breaks and if the ref would've stepped in properly he'd have certainly got more off the back off the Khan win.

Correct, the point in mention is simply there isnt any risk and everything to gain, as either way your going to be ok. Have you seen grant trying to say im wrong, the point im making is esb has had many folk saying he hasnt had chances, then willie himself said winning the wbu belt will give him a bigger stage to fight on etc, he gets the chance and declines the offer, wtf is all that about.

Willie's doing the right thing imo. He's got a family to look after. So whatever brings in the better money has to be the priority. That applies to us all.
I really hope Limond doesn't walk away coz he still has bags to offer and there are still some good fights out there for him. The Mcallister fight being one.
But all the best to the fella he's a sound bloke.

Problem is if you take 6-8 weeks out of your work schedule, those customers will go elsewhere, and in this recession who knows how long it will take to get new ones. So it has to be weighed up if it's worth sacrificing long term work for a short term payoff, and as apparently that payoff is lousy he's decided against it.
