Haye Confirms That He Has Not Had Any Contact With The Klits

    Who will buckle first and eventually initiate the talks for the fight: the Klits or Haye? Haye's bargaining position is now completely valid and it's great to see him chillaxing on chasing/ talking nothing but a fight with either of the Klits- the fight is now just as important for them as it is for him.

    On form as always in this interview:

    "Apparently we have some sort of agreement but I have no idea where he has got that from, he has made that up from somewhere," Haye said of Vitali.
    "I haven't actually talked to them since before the Valuev fight.
    "Next up for me is John Ruiz. After I've beaten him up good style then I'm going to sit round the table and then we'll talk about the fight with Vitali."
    "Anyone who has a title, I'm coming after them, plain and simple," added Haye. "The dream is still on. I have achieved my goal of becoming a world champion.
    "Now it's all about cementing my legacy by unifying the titles and dominating the division like the greats like Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson and defending my belts as many times as possible."

    Interesting that he is now saying he wants to defend 'as many times as possible' as opposed to the 'I'll be retired by the time I'm 31' line he's been repeating for years as well:think.

    Whilst he's winning and earning the bucks Haye wont retire at 31. Same as Khan who said a wee while back I'll retire at 25!

    Haye can dominate the division I have no doubt about that. But of course the two Ks have to be taken care of. Surely 2010 will see David Haye v a Klitschko.

    His title run will be very short lived. I'm really not surprised that he doesn't want to fight the Klits. Adamek, Boystov, Peter etc would all **** him up.

    Fighting once every 900years will not build you a legacy of any kind.

    Regardless of what people think Haye needs either Klitschko more than they need him.

    But the fight needs to happen.

    If you think Vit made Peter look stupid then Haye with his superior speed would do an even better job on fat Peter. Fatty bum bum moves around the ring as if he needs a zimmer frame yet you think he could beat Haye :rofl

    Exactly. It's good that Haye and Booth aren't looking beyond Ruiz even if Haye should deal with him handily. Things like that usually come back and bite you in the arse.

    No big deal. There is no need to talk to anybody but John Ruiz.

    The comment about defending his titles if it gets to that stage is interesting though.

    Yeah, it is completely different to everything he's said in the past and is a very interesting quote and is one of the reasons why I posted this thread. Perhaps it's dawned on him just how big the title of 'HW Champ' actually is:think.

    I hope this interview is a sign of things to come in terms of future bargaining position and strategy in negotiations with the Klits. It would be great if they both started saying 'I want Haye' rather than just give answers when questions about Haye are posed to them.
