He was a great of his era but he wasnt ever the best of his era, depends what you mean by ATG, throw me some names & I`ll tell you if he was on their level.

I don't think he didn't fight Winky for that reason. How many of us go back and watch the Mosley/Winky fights for pleasure? How many love to go back and rewatch Winky/Hopkins? Even Tito/Winky puts me to sleep. There might have been a more financial/show biz reason for not fighting Winky.

Great resume, lasting impact and changed the sport, turning non-fans into casual fans and casual fans into straight-up boxing fans.
Sure. HOF for his impact and lower-quarter of ATG lister for his career.

Winky was high risk and medium-low reward. I can understand why Oscar didn't choose to fight him. Tough fight for him

An ATG talent (Prime, peaked DLH at welterweight would give any 147 pounder in history a decent go of things.) without an ATG resume.

    Kinda like Calzaghe.

No. To me only the elite of the elite should be considered for ATG status. Very few fighters could get that high in the first place, add that De La Hoya never beat a prime elite fighter in his era I would say no.

Well, most people would argue he did beat Tito and Mosley in the 2nd fight

I understand that, but I don't believe Mosley or Trinidad are ATG's either.

Who do you consider an ATG of the last fifteen or twenty years then in the 135-154 pd weight limit then, if not them? And why? -Now I'm very curious as to who these holy of the holies are?

    Pray tell

Hell yea he's an all time great. The day i found out he was fighting the executioner i knew this guy didnt fuking duck NO ONE. except for winky. lol

  15. Nope. Beating up an old Chavez and getting a gift over Sweet Pea doesn't make him an ATG.
