im around 5 ft 9 or 10 walk around at 155 , low bf.
was just wondering what class would suit me as being the shorter fighter, im tryna put on some lean muscle anyway so would moving up a bit be a good idea?

Eat normally or maybe a bit more then usual and train for boxing. Let your body tell you where it wants to be and go from there.

im just finished my last exam in exercise , health studies and personal training and ive been studying alot on the best ways to train for boxing so all that is in check,i have the typical boxers physique for someone my size. the many quandry is being at a corfortable weight that will have me fighting on average , taller fighters

I dont know exactly what weight class but a rough guess from seeing amateur / professional fighters in recent years, a 5'9/5'10 is a sturdy light middleweight/super welterweight which has a limit of 154 pounds on weigh-in day.

Or even perhaps at that height considering your thinking of putting on some muscle being a semi-stocky middleweight could work, which has 160 pounds as the limit good example of fighters who've found success with that height/weight combination would be Arthur Abaraham in recent times and even more historically Marvin Hagler was about that height and was middleweight.

Anyhow it ends up being your preference, to fight bigger gangly guys or more slick and speedy type of opponents.

For me, I walk around 140 and I think I'm in the same limbo as you as to whether put on muscle and take 147 or just stay and make 135. Im 5'8 for the record.
So I guess we're in the same limbo. rofl.

yeah, ive tryed certain styles and tysons style( i know everyone wants to emulate it) but it works for me, my trainers have said im very heavyhanded in both fists, i have good ko power, which has been proven, i was slow, but now ive gotten a very good balance between speed and power and become explosive which i am happy with,

so within that style i think it would benifit me to become a little more stockier and fighter taller guys as have good hooks and bodyshots .

haha yeah its one to think about isnt it? let me know how it goes for

For amatuers it would be 152, which is what I fight at and I'm 6'0. I've always been the taller guy though. Im even moving down to 147 for a couple competitions in spring '10. I'm walking around 148-150 right now, 5.9% BF. Body wise, I look like a white Paul Williams covered in tattoos. :D
