Hopkins just made it obvious that he is the bigger man against a one-dimensional puncher. Hopkins tarver was a better win in terms of odds or Jones vs Ruiz
Mosley-DLH 1, Hopkins-Trinidad, Mayweather-Corrales, Jones-Ruiz, Pacquiao-Cotto, Forrest-Mosley 1, all deserve consideration. I'd might go with Pacquiao-Barrera 1 as Pacquiao was the one moving up in weight to face the recognized champ who'd been at the division for over 2 years. And against an ATG in Barrera who was in/near his prime. It wasn't a struggle, Pacquiao completely dominated a great fighter.
For me it would have to be Hopkins' beating Pavlik. Only fight I can recall where from the second round on I just watched in total awe and later asked myself, "How the **** could I pick Pavlik?"
Most of the fights that have been listed werent that shocking to me. Many people buy into media hype and fail to understand style matchups. Hopkins vs Tito, Floyd vs Chico, and Shane vs Margo went just the way that i thought they would. I was on this very website telling people that Shane would dominate Margo and I was called crazy and many claimed I picked Shane because I was a Floyd fan. These fights were bad style matchups. But because people dont want to see it the dominate showings were a little over rated, just a little. For me the single best perfomance of the decade was Chico vs Castillo I. The reason for that is the first fight should have been like the second fight but unlike Tito and Margo and even Chico in the Mayweather fight, Chico was able to overcome the bad style matchup and beat a fighter in a fight that he should have lost.
That might be my pick also. Another slept on performance: Forrest dismantling Mosley in the first bout.
brilliant fight. I've watched it many times. It lasts only two rounds but it's a classic. Pac at his best - exciting, explosive, never backing down. That night Hatton was hit by the hurricane of a thousand fists. :bbb
Margarito is much bigger than Pacquiao, so him beating Cotto down isn't as impressive. Pacquiao knocked Cotto off his feet twice, while Margarito made Cotto go down, but on his own accord.
