Yes but your not exactly prince naz either and when he came up against a decent boxer doing the stuff you think is ok got him his first loss, get your basic's upto scratch before you try to be fancy. I am not trying to be harsh but if you want to get better don't start doing stuff that isn't sensible.
thats not nice, everybody g2 start out somewhere. He can work on his craft and become good. Dude just keep training, work on your footwork as well, learn to stay on ya toes. DO you play any other sports?
EXACTLY the same thing I was thinking. He was trying to fight like Floyd. It's Floyd vs. Winky. The guy in the blue fights with a Floyd defense and the guy in the white loves to jab out in Southpaw stance.
Thanks a lot for the comment. I know where I stand. Finally there is someone who sees that I put effort in trying to slip punches, parrying, catch and shoot, and timed counters. When I watched myself I saw a lot of flaws.. but mainly bc I am still green and inexperienced. When I saw my opponent fold like he did I pull back on some of the obvious shots, I didn't want to hurt him bc that was not my purpose. I just want someone to force me to apply some skills.
Yes but whats the point in doing any of that if your basic boxing skills aren't upto scratch, this is my whole point learn to walk before you can run.
Ok Hotti, you wanna know why I tried to do philly shell? I am light weight so is hard to find people near my weight to spar... I am often thrown in there with middle weights and up. and they always broke thur my guard when I blocked conventional and get beat up with my own gloves. They were simply too heavy. So I tried philly shell. It was taught to me by some amatuer boxer.... 5 months ago and I have lots of success in blocking shots from my shoulders and sneak some uppercuts in and run away. So sometimes I pull it out on right hand friendly folkes to intice them to come in so i can hit him with hooks and uppercuts. Obviously... saying and doing is two different things... but that is why.
No, what you need to do is shadow box and use a heavybag. Learn how to punch before you spar. You're going to be slaughtered if you spar with anyone worth sparring with. Sparring with the guy you're sparring with is pointless. You also seem weak in general, which is probably why a lot of your punches are crooked or arm punches or just not delivered properly. Start doing push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups, etc.. You need to get in shape. Punch the heavy bag properly and learn how to do that sort of thing. Until you do, sparring is just going to leave you damaged.
I think you would make a great tomato can. Call Amare Khan right away. He'll give you a match in a heartbeat. He may ask you some questions involving your punching power beforehand though. Make sure that you are honest, or he may cancel the bout.
No offense, but you're just not meant for boxing. I was a hundred times better without any training. I got thrown in with a pro my first time ever to a gym to spar with and I gave him hell and even cut his eye. I'm very athletic though and have always been very competitive with confidence in whatever I'm trying to do. I didn't spar the pro thinkin "OMG. He's gonna beat my ass.", I sparred him thinking "He's just a human being with a chin to be hit.".
