This is quite an intriguing one and I think Berto looks a good outside bet.

Shane is now 38 years old and when he steps in the ring it will be for the first time in over a year. Looked good against Margarito and skyrocketed up the P-4-P ratings as a result, but was that the same Margarito who punched bits out of Cotto? We can't really say for sure, but the smart man would think that if Margo had used illegal handwraps against Mosley then he would also have done against the seemingly more dangerous Cotto. Plus the fight previous Mosley looked like dog**** for 11 and a bit rounds against a Ricardo Mayorga who was not himself in his prime; lovely ending though, which seems to have made a lot of people forget what had gone before.

Berto certainly has flaws in his game, but he is young and has the confidence of an unbeaten fighter coming in. Played it safe against Urango last time out (which many seem to do against Juan), and ran out with a wide decision in a not too exhilirating contest.

Style wise they are both fast punchers that pack a good deal of power in their blows. Mosley has the experience, with Berto the freshness.

In regards to common recent opponents, Mosley certainly made a better job of things when dominating Collazo, wheras Berto struggled against Luiz.

But I think Berto might be the more sharper of the two, and I think he might jump out to an early lead. Shane has a lot of miles on the clock, but I see him making a big drive in the closing rounds and Berto hanging on for dear life. Berto close UD for me.

Mosely is a level above Berto but possibly the Margarito fight flattered him a little. I think a clear ud for Mosely however unless he dosen't have anything left in the tank. Could be the fight where he grows old over night.

I cant see any other result than a 12 round SD for mosley, althought at 38 he may just find Berto a handful

I think Mosley will stop Berto, to be perfectly honest.

Berto is a bit open isn't he? And he doesn't have the best engine.

I don't think the Mosley that beat Mayorga would stand much of a chance though. Thing is, that fight could have been an off night, rather than the converse argument (which I opened with) that says Mosley beat a cheat in Margarito who was **** all without his bricks and therefore we should pay more attention to his previous contest with Ricardo. Does that make any sense?:think

    BTW, love the avatar.

Yeah, Berto is quite easy to hit, if Collazo had better stamina he'd have put the result beyond doubt..... and he wasn't all that impressive against Urango.

In terms of the Mayorga fight, I've never been all that convinced about Mosley at 154 - the gift over DLH, two losses to Winky and those wins over Vargas - and it was a bit of an off-night.

Margarito piled on a few lbs before camp and looked a bit tight at the weight, but still took a **** load of punishment before caving in.... as for whether he cheated in the Cotto fight, I'm not convinced. He'd always be a hard matchup for Cotto.... relentless, grantite beard etc.

I'd say Berto wins the first couple of rounds until Shane starts getting his timing going - once that happens it won't last long. He likes to hold in close when tired rather than stay away, it will allow Mosley to brawl and slug, which suits him more than a jabbing contest.

Probably about the halfway point the referee steps in.

I think his age coupled with the long layoff ruins mosley. Going for berto late on. :good

This fight will be 371 days on since Shane beat Margo. I feel that although it was a great victory many factors were in his favor going into the ring that night.

Margo was beaten up in sparring and also had a camp that was rushed as the fight was pushed through quickly then the handwraps incident also i feel effected Margo but that's not taking anything away from Shane performing a masterpiece of tactical boxing. History says that when Shane doesn't box for 6 months and over that he struggles in his next fight plus being in with a speedy fighter like Berto he may be in trouble if rusty.

I can't go against a man like Naazim Richardson because he will have a gameplan that will help Shane to the maximum and Berto isn't a great boxer imo. He's one of the new breed and has a decent plan for each fight but i think he's been exploited already and shown signs of vulnerability. I would go with Mosley for now as i feel although maybe rusty Berto hasn't really shown any great ability since capturing the title.

brillant fight. the vet vs the prospect. great to see belts unified, i'm always a big fan of this.

winner of berto vs mosley becomes the number 1 contender to floyds lineal title or floyd/pac winner.

this would have lined up the perfect opponent for floyd vs pac. terrible if that fight doesnt happen.
