By History and philly etc. He seems very very bitter must admit i feel really sorry for him a true hero, came from nothing and became one of the greats.

    What do you guys think?

Cant believe philly has a statue of rocky and nothing for joe. Is it also true he had to sell his gym?

Yeah, I understand he's sold his gym. Can't hand out free gyms though.

The biggest issue for Joe has been this financial **** with his daughter. I don't know the details, but fighters who make mistakes with their money are ten a penny i'm afraid.

Yep. He's mad some mistakes with money. I don't get how all these fighters end up broke. They get screwed a lot of times and end up the punching bag, but in Joe's case I think it was a combination of both... like with a lot of fighters.

I didn't even know he had financial problems, because he was a very shrewd businessman to my knowledge.

    I dont think so.
Frazier is remembered as a great fighter. His finances and personal life are his own private business.

I think Joe has definately been screwed and should be respected for the image he helped make for Philly

Indeed, I feel that instead of living in a humble apartment, he should be living the good life in a manor house provided to him and Philly should honour him with a bigger and better statue than Rocky with exclusive territory at the top of the museum steps (I know Rocky's was moved Northeast of steps), plus his footprints to replace Rocky there. Oh and "Rocky Steps", should be renamed "Frazier Steps"!

Someone should set up a petition to get Smokin' Joe a statue. I don't know how.

I'm sure there'd be enough people out there willing to show the man some love and sign their names up.

Anyone know anything about petitions and badgering people to do stuff?

Again the statue was a movie prop for Rocky III, 4 and 5, Philly didnt PAY for the statue, Rocky did, once his movie was done filming, he just gave it to the city about.

    Tired of going over this.
