I said it wasn't made into a big deal because of the reasons I mentioned. I didn't say it wasn't important. Pacquiao's team speaks for him publicly. If he doesn't like what they're saying on his behalf he should shut them the **** up, and I believe he should because they're all contradicting each other. Anyway, my point was that this whole testing stipulation thing is not unprecedented. Cotto did look good. He would have also looked good without the 145 catchweight I'm sure. My point was that the 145 catchweight could be deemed "unwarranted" by some, especially given the fact that he had his 147 belt on the line.
Were the blood tests that Judah wanted from Mosley as strenuous as the ones that Floyd is proposing? Pac has never failed a drug test much less has ever been under any tangible suspicion for using PED's and was being forced to take a strenuous test to prove himself innocent. I'm sorry but that's not the same thing as the "unwarranted" catchweight that he fought Cotto at.
valid points man. but for me it is unprecedented and hypocritical when the same group of people requesting this of manny, is the same group of assholes who refused their fighter (shane) of going through stricter drug testing, accepting only NSAC's testing policies, because shane isn't a cheat and shouldn't be treated as one. that to me makes no sense and makes their actions rather questionable. all i'm saying is after all this **** that they've caused, they better take their complaints to the governing bodies/sanctions and follow through with their demands so that it's a fair playing field for everyone. this asking one fighter, whether its manny or not, is bull****.
Learn your history, *******. The fight was agreed to intially by Roach and company with the Drug testing in it. After everything was agreed to, Pacquiao backed out.
Wasn't PBF vs JMM at 8 oz? And 8oz vs 10oz gloves is not like an unusual request at the 147 class? I don't see the big deal about this at all.
Actually Pac's camp agreed to the drug testing, it is the details of the drug testing that was not accepted - including the last test before the fight. Pac's team agreed to the blood test, including immediately after the fight. PBF wanted pure random, including the night of the fight. There where supposedly counter offers, including 3-4 days before the fight, guarantee of no test 48 hours, using other facilities, etc. No one signed papers.
i read on here that espn reported that the olympic style drug testing was only added to the contract 2 weeks ago. sorry i can't remember the thread.
As I recall, Judah was asking for "olympic style" drug testing, so I'd have to assume that meant the same olympic style drug testing. He's being forced to take the test to make the fight happen. He hasn't been charged with anything by any type of authority, so he doesn't have to prove himself anything. Naturally some people will suspect his reluctance to undergo further testing, but their suspicion doesn't mean he's guilty of anything. He was already suspected by some before this whole thing. BTW, "strenuous" isn't exactly an accurate term to describe these tests. Routine blood tests take only a few minutes and there's no medical evidence to suggest that the small amount of blood taken in the process will significantly affect anybody.
First, PBF vs. JMM has nothing to do with this fight Second, as far as I know, in Nevada 10 oz. gloves are standard @ 147 unless both fighters gree to use 8 oz. gloves. Pac wanted 8, FLoyd 10 (for many obvious reasons) but Floyd conceded the issue to use use 8 0z. gloves.
Cotto and Maragrito fought using 8oz gloves a year and a half ago in NV. Arum fought tooth and nail to make that happen. PBF complained about having to use 10oz gloves against Dela Hoya. He called them pillows. So why all of the sudden does he now favor the bigger glove size? If it's truly because his hand problems have worsened then I haven't heard about it. As far as the weight penalty, would you rather there be a smaller penalty or no penalty at all and he breach the weight agreement as he did against JMM?
You're missing my point that team Pacquiao have requested concessions outside of the "rules of boxing". We can go back and forth on the details all day long, but the fact is they have, and those concessions were granted.
