Just read on the boxing scene that Khan may vacate his title if the WBA force Maidana as his next opponent.

Apparently the terms of the Salita fight was that the winner would have to fight Maidana within 90 days.

If this is true then surely frank and possibly Roach will have known about this well in advance of the Salita fight???

I'll be disappointed if Khan vacates, in fact I'll be positively pissed. Kevin Mitchell has shown it is possible to beat punchers by outboxing them and Khan with the right sparring partners should school Maidana for 12 rounds.

Does anyone know any more on the rumours of vacating / the forced mandatory with maidana / any comment from Roach?

Khan needs to fight people who will test him and not guys like Maidana.

To be fair I don't think Khan would bottle fighting any of the top guys. Just because he has a shaky chin does not mean he is some sort of coward. After being embarrassed by Prescott he came out and faced the music, did loads of interviews, held his hands up and said he was determined to come back improved.

If he vacates then it will be down to Warren and the team not him as an indivdiual in my opinion.
That said this will be quite telling. If he does not vacate then I still expect him to leave Warren hence Warren giving Mitchell the Prescott fight. If he vacates then it would suggest to me that he has come to an agreement with Warren and Frank will have him for several more fights.

So Khan picks his own fights, huh.... wonder why he pays Warren then?:huh

I'm getting bored of these 'know nothing' boxing fans constantly slagging Khan off when they obviously don't even understand the sport.... take it to the the general forum where you lot belong!

Khan will ultimately be swayed by whatever decision his promotor, trainer and team come up.

I agree with a previous poster in that i don't think Khan himself is scared of taking top fighters on - the guy has a fighter's heart.

I don't know why he would vacate unless he is scared of the power. Maidana is a legit fight for him if he wants to grow as a fighter. If he makes a bigger fight then it is understandable.

    You would if vacates then....

Say he fights Bradley instead? or what about Zab Judah, you think they're easier fights than Maidana? if he gets to face one of those two opponents next (which is the plan) you would still think of him as being being cowardly or not worth your respect?

i think he should face the argentinian ,i hope he does or people will start to question why he didnt fight him,and question his integrity in some circles
