I actually think Mickey Vann is/was a very good referee - he just gets a lot of stick from the Hatton haters for refereeing a disproportionate % of his fights.

Still don't agree with his Chavez/Whitaker card though :hey

Ritchie Davies is quite good, the pick of the bunch around right now I feel, doesn't take no **** and doesn't mind giving decisions against house fighters or taking points from them.

Howard Foster is probably the next best, gets a bit of stick for the 'favour' in the Lazcano fight and the odd BS stoppage (apart from Jones vs Green ) but on the whole fair enough IMO.

John Keane, Terry O'Connor and Dave Parris are all terrible..... especially O'Connor.

I like that we are becoming fairer with foreign fighters in terms of judging, though a few in the past 12 months have been generous.

Some of the "problem" is that is you go into watching fight looking for bad or biased reffing then thats what you'll see.

I was taking the **** with Parris but if you look at how the first Rogan-Sexton fight was handled then you'll see what I mean, that fight was reffed pretty well but because it was Parris and Rogan was the "away" fighter people were up in arms about the reffing.

I agree that Rogan vs Sexton was reffed pretty well, until the conclusion - but then you could (and probably should) argue that the fight was stopped with good reason because Rogan's eye was shut.... the only controversy (if that's the right word) is whether it was Rogan's fault for not putting Sexton away.

I guess there always needs to be a talking point to grab the headlines, the referee is a pretty easy target in most sports. I'd say our refs are better than those on the continent, but inferior to those in the US.

But our judges are the best/fairest. In America aggression is everything.... in Germany it's variable, in Italy you don't have a chance.

Ritchie Davies is okay other than when he insists on talking to fighters and giving them instructions without halting the action so they end up looking at him to see what he's on about and getting hit.

Is it just me or do refs seem to be migrating to be 'from Leeds'?

    O'Conner is terrible.

My fave is Jeff Hinds - just for his sense of style.

Ian John Lewis is by far the best. He is not corrupt like the rest of them.

I saw Micky Vann refereeing that crap Ukranian/Russian/German whatever he is Alexander Ustinov (unbeaten though:yep) in Germany a few weeks ago so I guess there must be an age limit on refs with the BBBoC is this correct?
