The Holyfield vs Bowe I round 10 inspired this thread.

So what are the 10 best rounds in boxing history?

Try to name rounds with great ebbs and flows of back and forth action, rather than a KO round.

Great list but no mention of that Holyfield vs Bowe round? And you like the round vs Cooper more?

Well, that isn't a definitive list by any means I just threw out the 10 that were most fresh in my mind. Bowe vs Holyfield I is one of the greatest fights ever in my judgment, let alone round 10 being among the best rounds, which is surely is. I think the best round in Heavyweight history was probably Norton vs Holmes round 15. Both just slugging it out with the crowd going crazy. A booming right hand knocking the mouthpiece out of Larry's mouth, then seconds before the end Holmes lands a big uppercut of his own. Tremendous!!!

...Just watched that round again. Holy ****in' ****, simply doesn't get better than that ladies and gentleman.

That Norton vs Holmes fight is criminally underrated. I don't know why. That 15th round was the whole fight. Norton then Holmes takes it! What a round, what a good fight.

Caveman Lee and John Locicero. Man, talk about brutal uppercuts, this has to be the best uppercut fight.

I'll probably get a few strange looks for this one but Dempsey-Tunney II Round 7 - don't know why just love watching that one - 2 great fighters - Tunney does brilliantly to get out of trouble and I know Dempsey is really a shadow of himself but I always find myself shouting "Come on Jack - get after him!! get him to the ropes!" at the TV even though I've seen it millions of times and I already know the result - still think Dempsey could land one on him - a funny pick I know but that moment Tunney gets up and you can see Dempsey senses the chance for the kill and comes surging across the ring. Just for the hell of it would've loved to have seen what would've happened if Tunney hadn't of ran at the exact moment haha oh well

Also Ali-Foreman round 5 is another one that is truly incredible and for me just opitimises everything that is Ali - how he takes those body punches from Foreman is just completely beyond me - at times I'm wincing and turning away - no human should put themselves through that kind of crushing brutality - he must've been the strongest man in the world to take that - and then he comes back to ping some shots back and then takes a huge bulldozing left bang on the ching then staggers him makes him miss and bends him over the ropes and then sticks his tongue out at ringside jounalists and goes "aarghh" - what a cocky kid!! Thats one of the most amazing things I've ever seen done in the ring right there - pure genius - what a fighter!! thats how I always want to think of Ali - doing something that defies belief and all with the cheekiness of a child - peoples champ totally

I'd have to think long and hard to come up with a definitive Top 10. A few I haven't seen mentioned:

    Hagler-Hearns Round 1
    Trinidad-Vargas Round 1
    Lewis-Bruno Round 7

Fight importance plays a big factor for me in these.

    Ali-Shavers Round 15.
Ali takes some punishment from Shavers and was close to getting KO'd in the first two minutes of the round. He then shows immense courage to comeback with a superb flurry in the final 30secs to almost finish off Earnie. The reaction of the crowd add's to the scene too.
    Rivetting stuff.
