Did any of you catch An Audience with Muhammad Ali on espn classics?

yer i watched it and what a legend he is, could sit there and listen to him all day, absoulute brilliant.

 

Yeah I seen that bit, the lad didn't seem to be all that bright

It was great when Ali just brought the kid up and had a little 'spar' with him though, completely unexpected :yep

 

great wasn't it? Ali was just so interested in everything. Just could not be more charismatic. He didn't have a 'celebrity guard' at all did he? Everything he did was so natural.

 

came across quite naturally a racist in that interview to be honest!!

From his comments he seemed to have a lot in common with the racist bigots that ran South Africa before the checkout girls in Dunnes refused to sell their Oranges!

Only sayin what I saw mate!

I was a massive fan growing up and he was a hero in our house but as I got older I have often since seen the nasty and ugly side of his character that is glossed over.

He was a bully and a snob and really out of order with regards the Fraizer situation and he held views that make the BNP look like liberals.

 

True, was a great show! Was I the only one who searched the youths name on google after!?! Yup I noticed he did have a bit of attitude, without stereotyping, which I am definately not doing, he was Jamaican, so there is about a 96.3% chance he was high.

 

Did anyone see David Frost's interview a few years ago with Ali. He did express some dubious views there about women, white people and Jews. I do wonder how he will be viewed in 20 years time. There is no doubting his legecy and achievements. A flawed person though amazingly important in a context wider than just boxing.

 

Great interview, I saw it last Saturday. funny when the young lad came up to have a small sparring session lol.

Ali is great, even with his illness he shows what a great sport he is.

 

Sky+'d this over Christmas, but not got round to watching it yet.
