Actually im just as big a Marco fan as i am a Finito fan, you just hear me Talk about Lopez all the time because you guys underrate him. However for as great as Marco was and he fought and beat better comp, ability wise even Lopez was smoother than Marco and in a HTh PFp matchup hed beat Barrera. You are correct on your assesment on SOrjaturong,Chiquita though i just thought id pump up his blowout over sorjaturong more. Finito would have handled a prime CHiquita i have absoulutly no doubt in my mind about that one. Do you think he beats YUH?
Sorjaturong was a limited banger. And not one of the better ones, ala Mugabi, Tonna, Galaxy, Colin JOnes, Moon etc...the epitome of a mediocre splinter champ at the lower weights, though i suppose his power and tenacity does make him one of Lopez' better wins. I thought Gonzalez was slowing down when he fought him, despite the last Carbajal win being so recent. Both of them had lost a step, though it reflects badly on Gonzalez he lost to a fighter as basic as Saman imo.
Ray could take out Norris at ANY time with that china chin. Its a question of when; especially over 15 rounds. However Norris with his speed, lateral movement would make it into a close fight but I feel he would play safety first because of the fear of getting nailed. The classier crisper work would come from Leonard who if he goes in agressive takes him out early; or if he bides his time and waits for openings can take him out late. Rooster and BennyBlanco don't seem to realise they're in the minority in this one ha.
I agree with you on Sorjaturong, even a faded Chiquita was dishing out a whupping on him for a few rounds, great fight though. But look at all the punishment He soaked up from Chiquita but yet against Lopez he hit the canvas every time he was clocked clean, he was improved as a fighter but i doubt his chin improved that dramatically. Also Are you talking about Gratien Tonna? Heard of him but didnt know he was that highly regarded. I think theres been alot of guys who were better bangers than Colin Jones if you are talking power punchers. What do you mean exactly by great bangers?
Tonna isn't that highly regarded, neither is Jones really, but i rate 'em both relatively highly as pure punchers. Just mentioning the type of fighters i would put the thai in with stylistically, and there were a lot that impressed me more from that category.Still, Lopez couldn't have done him in any more emphaticallt, which is something i've said in the past about him...i might not rate many of the fighters he beat, but he took care of ordinary challengers as well as any great fighter should.A lot of other notable fighters around those weights who had long reigns might have fought slightly better fighters consistently, but a number of them did have off-nights against them.Lopez to his credit didn't
I haven't read this whole thread, but somebody earlier wrote that Norris carried Leonard. I have no doubt about this. Norris pitied him and let him off the hook. Camacho didn't pity him, though.
:good Your Comments regarding Lopez were right on:good Just one of the reasons why i rank him so high.
