http://www.sherdog.com/videos/recent/Machida-Recovering-Eager-for-Shogun-Rematch-2151 That's a *****. Hopefully Rua can batter him this time round
And Anderson doesnt wanna fight Wanderlei, Filho, Belfort, Henderson, Marquardt or Machida. Who the **** do these guys wanna fight ?
I honestly think that Machida and Silva would be a good fight. I don't care if they are "friends". This should be a fight that is seen. I hope Rua takes what is his.. he was ****in robbed last time.
Rua vs A.Silva is a much better fight than A.Silva vs Machida Rua vs A.Silva would be brutal and action packed. A.Silva vs Machida wouldnt be good since they wouldnt give their all.
this is most likely true. They should just fight and give it their all. It would be a good fight if they did.
Apparently, only fighters who aren't Brazilian. At some point (probably soon), the issue of teammates and friends refusing to fight each is going to come to a head in the UFC. I bet anything that some smaller names get cut from the promotion of it.
Machida, Anderson, and the Nogs are all training partners. Brazilians in general don't want to fight each other unless there is bad blood, certainly not a teammate. GSP probably wouldn't fight Marquart if he moved up or Cerrone if Cerrone moved up. Rashed wouldn't fight Jardine. In reality what usually happens is when a gym gets really really big one of two things happens in these situations, using Coutures and the old Chute Boxe for an example, they can put it aside and train at different times with different trainers (cliques tend to develop anyway at really big gyms), or there will be seperate gyms forming (tapout now has some old Couture guys, Chute Boxe went different ways, even Hughes and Lawler split from MFS) The problem usually solves itself, team gets really big, then the team is either big enough to run separate camps with separate cliques, or the gym splits.
Yep, have to respect that they refuse to fight one another. Ultimately, they are friends, and it would be one friend being catapulted up at the other friends demise, and potentially serious harm. Funny thing, back in the day, Shogun wouldn't fight Wanderlei, and I doubt they would fight today. In a way its actually a great thing for them not to fight, have the sort of class and dignity to turn down the money out of respect and honor for a friendship.
White says the fights are hard to make but he hasn't given up on them. Friends have fought before because they understand it is each others livelyhood and legacy. Neither should stand in the way of that. I'm sure Machida vs Silva would get them more money than they are used to. I've got no problem with friends not fighting except when they are on top and unfortunately Machida and Silva are on top.
