Pacquiao beating a tough mofo like Clottey will speak volumes about how good Pac really is, but as far as legacy, it won't do much, because Clottey isn't all that popular. There are really only two guys that could propel Pac into the top 10-15, or even top 5-10 of most people's ATGs lists...Mosley (maybe) and Mayweather (definitely).

I will buy this PPV, it is not the fight we wanted to see but it is a legit WW fight. A lot of people counting Clottey out but I see an ugly fight for Pac. This is a 50/50 fight if you ask me.
If/when Mosley beats Berto that would be a much better fight for Pacquiao from every standpoint from financial to resume/legacy. Clottey won't get Pac as much money nor will it mean as much for his legacy. And Mosley is damn sure ready and willing to fight. So why pick Clottey over Mosley? Is this a duck?

Clottey did great against Margarito before he hurt his hand. He isn't the weakest link. Shane lost to Cotto. Cotto lost to Margo. Margo lost to Mosley and Williams. Williams lost to freakin' Quintana. If he beat Berto people would say Mosley was old and Berto is green.
Clottey did good against Margarito in the first few rounds. Most fighters do well against Margarito in the first few rounds. Clottey is a good fighter, but he is a B level fighter. He is similar to his country man Ike Quartey in terns of status, but less skilled, slower, and worse defense. Really, Pac rather pass on $45 million dllrs because he doesn't want to test 14 days before the fight, and would rather take less money against a fighter who would not really add anythinig to his legacy, and who would gurantee a much smaller pay day??!! Mosley and Berto are fighting each other. JMM wants a 50/50 split, Margarito is an irrelevant cheat and Mayweather won't fight Manny. Clottey is a highly ranked opponent, no1 contender for the WBO belt, whats the problem with Pac fighting him?

Catchweight and they saw Clottey fade late against Cotto. Those HAVE to be it. Also Clottey is stationary and kinda simple. He is very effective but not versatile, makes no adjustments. I think Clottey will give Pac much more problems then Cotto did, but they had to have seen something in him. He is a legit, top 5 WW and Pac will get credit if he beats him.
