I have Upper arm pain after shadowboxing despite being able to throw punches with full force. It doesn't hurt unless I overextend on a left hook, one of my muscles there seems to be strained or at worse a small tear. I'm not sure what the injury is specifically because I can still jab, double jab, and throw left hooks fine, it's just when I overextend too much on a hook I feel it. Also if I cross my left arm over my chest like an inner circle, I have trouble extending my arm all the way across while I can do that with my right arm fine. I feel a stiff sharp pain when I do this so I'm really not sure what it is. I'm supposed to be going back to the boxing gym in a week and a half but I'd like to find out what this injury is and what I can do for it. I think I can still train near 100 % with the injury because it doesn't affect my range of motions, just afterwards is when I feel it, so I'll be buying some icey hot for it.
What could this injury be and what can I do about it?

Maybe because youre over extending the left hook? Hooks are supposed to be short and compact.

Do you feel in in the back of your shoulder or front? In your arm or in your pec or back?

Im also going through this right now. My left side. When i throw hooks the back of my shoulder just hurts like hell, sometimes the front on the clavicle.

Ive been doing shoulder rehab exercises, streches, started a yoga asana for neck, shoulder, and back pain... im seeing some results, but its still there.

And i have the golden gloves on march 2nd... so if anyone has any info id appreciate, i can share mine too if anyone wants it.

It's in the front towards the pectoral muscle but not there, it's in the arm.
On further online research, it is in the anterior deltoid muscle. It feels really stiff after exercising it for just a couple rounds of heavybag or shadowboxing work at my house. And sparring will be even worse than heavybag work on the muscles. I don't know how it's going to go at the gym with two to three times that work on a daily basis. I still want to go back to the gym but I may start out slowly in terms of days and try to rehab this, I'd really like to get some amateur fights in while I can(until May) so just go to the gym I guess but proceed with caution.
So now that I know it's an anterior deltoid injury what should I do about it?
