Arreola probably. I never got the hype around this guy at all. Can we add an option, just randomly, of Boom Boom being a ****ing loser?
Arreola was hyped for having the opportunity to be the first Mexican American Heavyweight Champion...and he was an American who was thought to challenge any of the beltholders.
Yeah, but all this when the guy was grossly out of shape and had not fought anyone of note. Yet we had threads of "Arreola can beat either Klitschko, Arreola can KO Wlad, Arreola can do a cartwheel, Arreola can run faster than Usain Bolt". It was ******ed. :nut His best names to date are probably Witherspoon, although I would have given him more credit for beating Tim rather than Chazz. McCline? Walker?? Minto??? Then all of a sudden, he mmust be ready for Vitali based on his outstanding resume and experience at this level.
antonio beat roy before he was damaged goods an beat all light heavys roy beat an aveged his loses except dawson ,an hopkins no shame losing to legend or young gun only problem stated pro carer late jeff lacey hands down beat no world beaters r.willams,o.sheka best fighter he beat was robin reid whos best days were behind him loss to calzage no shame in that but was never same after that
Personally if there was an option i would put none, i think they are all pretty much thought of in the right context. Maybe at one point or another in their careers you could have put one down, but hindsight is 20/20 and most of those guys at their best were indeed deserving of hype. But i suppose Lacy, looking back, was more hyped then he ever should have been.... but i too think even lacy gets a bit **** on too much because he was def a solid puncher at his best pre JC, but not quite deserving i suppose of the hype he was given.
atsch Depends on how you look at it. If you mean who right now is still overated then maybe Hamed for me. If you mean overated at any point then definitely Lacy. Lacy isnt overated anymore, but once upon a time he was the next big thing... Then Joe C took him to school.
1. mikkel kessler. 2. bernard hopkins in more generality and as a thumb rule : the previous (last years') and current 168. kessler , mundine , bika , andrade , bute , taylor , miranda , sam soliman , sartison , manfredo , beyer , lacy , ornelas , calzaghe also is overrated but at least he achieved something. and i think there are more.
He is not over rated he beat undefeated Jeff Lacy(The previously next big thing)while he was in his prime,he beat chris Eubank when RJJ was running from Eubank,he wanted to fight both Roy and Hops back then but scared of the outcome in America.
