Cotto always been in tuff fights. But only the next fight will tell how effective he will be at this weight. His body looks like it could hold the weight well. Looked a little weight drained in the last fight anyway.

I think this is a bad move for Cotto........But I have learned that you just never know in boxing, how things will turn out....so I wish him good luck

He didn't look too bad to me, anyway if anything I think he should take a tune up fight first to see how he preforms.

Exactly my thoughts, although on paper its looks like a bad move for Cotto, we wont really know until he steps up and fights. I'll keep supporting him regardless.

If I was his promoter I would look at

    1) Yuri Foreman- Inexperienced, light hitter, good but nothing special, and a fellow top rank fighter. Held in NY on eve of PR parade against a Brooklyn based Fighter for a title should be a decent seller

    2) Cory Spinks- older "name" fighter, has little power, and has stamina issues. He is a experienced, skilled, southpaw, boring, and promoted by Don King.

    3) Angulo- Inexperienced, One-dimensional, and Mexican (using that as a seller). Does have good power and is relentless

I would avoid at all costs Williams and Martinez due to their skills, Cintron for his power (even though unproven at 154), and the rest for their marketability

    He should avoid marketable fighters?

No, the rest of the top ten lack marketability

He could fight Daniel Santos in PR or NY, that would sell good.

While I agree to a certain extent, I think that Santos lost a lot when he came in undertrained and performed poorly in his last fight... Then again, Cotto was brutalized in his last fight and this is a new weight class. My point was the most marketable of the top ten guys, and which one he had the best chance against. Santos is a good fight, I just think Yuri is a better fight stylistically, more marketable, and will earn him a new title in a new weight class... What do u think?

Hes technically better than all of the title holders and has about as much power and speed as them too but they all are very rangy. They all have a height advantage over him and huge reach advantage. In a brawl situation I favor him over all of them except Martinez, in a boxing display I only favor him over spinks, and maybe to Foreman, but I favor Dziniruk and Martinez over him by a fair margin.

I do agree with that, Yuri in NY would sell very good due to the large Puerto Rican and Jewish populations, I'm just saying that the ones you listed are not necesarly the only fights there are for him.

Cotto moving to 154 just confirms that he is lost. He needs some new guidance, and no I'm not talking about Joe Santiago.
