Marco's prime was at 126lbs, and his skill set, overall talent, and toughness are several leagues above Khan, who's fought? NOBODY! Who's beat? Guess again, NOBODY! Don't listen to GPater, he's a purist wannabe, who thought a one-sided brutal beating by Carbajal was the Hagler/Hearns of 108lbs. He's a lot of growing to do...hopefully in the common sense department.
Bit harsh. Surely the Hagler-Hearns of 108 is Chiquita-Carbajal 1:huh What did he say? Carbajal-Sosa? (ain't watched it yet to be fair so don't wanna comment) Barrera's prime was clearly at 126. Technically astute, extremely ring savvy and measured in his approach, this version would beat the 122lb version at say, a 124lb catchweight:good
not so sure I like Khan but Barrera was starting to time him a little bit despite that nasty gash and all that blood. Take away that cut and i would probably give the edge to MAB
Not really, he was being dominated. Barrera was a bit too old, a bit too small, and no the cut didn't help. Personally don't think Barrera would be made for 135lbs at any stage of his career, but that isn't meant to detract from him at all. Khan was a big lightweight as well, and very fast. The win means NOTHING for Khan's resume. It also means nothing for Barreras.
Not to mention physically he was a lot stronger, and he didn't seem to lose much if any of his handspeed in my jugdment. It wasn't as pronounced because he didn't let his hands go as often as he would back down at 122lbs, but when he did, he has wonderful handspeed. Two of his greatest ever performances came at 126lbs, and two of his signature wins. The Barrera just before he stepped up to 126lbs was also a beast. Carbajal vs Sosa is a BEATDOWN, Flea. NOT competitive...at all.
It would have certainly changed the way the fight planned out in the end but i think Khan would of still won the fight i dont think he would of got the stoppage though i think he would of got a wide unanimous decision, Although if Barrera landed early he probly would of KO'd Khan just like anybody else who lands on the chin of Amir Khan.
Yes Khan Would have won, Barerra did nothing to suggest he was getting anywhere in the fight, too slow, too small, and not good enough for King Khan !!
Precisely gotta love MAB but he was a small FW against a guy who is a big LWW ( regardless of what they weighed in at ! ) and he was years past his best Even peak for peak would be tough , it was almost comical how much bigger Khan was. Barrera was paid to be a name on a record that's all.
Addie makes me laugh, khans prime weight will be at 147lb... but obviously if you look through the rose tinted glasses Barrera would KO him at that weight in the first
I think that Khan would have won regardless...:yep It was awesome to see MAB in my hometown... His reception outlined his place in Boxing History... He got a better reception than Khan...:yep They rolled the dice with a name that was past it's best, not exactly a fight where Khan learnt a lot, but the Boxing fans in Great Britain got to see a true legend...:yep
