I don't see why his height is a factor here. It's weight divisions, not height divisions. If he's weight draining, then he's coming in weaker. That doesn't benefit a volume puncher.

Every fighter is overrated or underrated depending on who you listen to.

I've been a boxing fan so long I watched a young heavyweight named Cassius Clay come up through the ranks. Williams is over rated, but less so than before Martinez busted his face up.

He won that fight nonetheless... Close UD. And here you are trying to convince me that you are a true boxing by tossing that NAME. How old was he by the way? That was yesterday right?

I just HAVE to chime in here. To whoever said he is too tall, he makes the weights he fights at end of story. Plus with his style he gets hit alot more than say the Klitschkos do because he fights far more offensively minded and doesn't really completely utilize his height. Some idiots here have the nerve to think that being super tall and throwing punches automatically means you'll own much shorter fighters. So let me ask you this: What happened to Valuev, Fields, Long, Ikeke, or Russell Jordan(same height as Paul) when they faced credible opponents? They lost or in Valuev's case should have lost on more than one occassion. There's that whole skill thing that allows Williams to be so dangerous....he's not a helpless gangly mess at close quarters like most tall rangy guys. He can put a whoopin on from close or long range. So let's get off of this 'Floyd Mayweather doing an interview and pulling the he's to big bs to discount Williams as a potential opponent' kick.

I love watching Williams fight and the fact that he's willing to take risky fights against the best....how can you not like that? I'm not blinded by the man's sack by any means because there is something else I love about watching him: he shows vulnerabilities. He looked flat against Quintana, was getting shellacked in the late rounds by Margo, and was getting BLASTED by accurate counters by Martinez(also took plenty of shots from Matthysse). Yet he still keeps coming Aaron Pryor/Marciano style and ups his already ridiculous punch rate. He makes for entertaining fights when against the very best.

Do I think he's overrated? Underrated? Depends who assesses him. He's no unbeatable monster but he's certainly no easy touch by any means either, and has managed to give every elite fighter he faced hell in some form or another. As long as he always seeks to fight the best then I'll watch and enjoy his fights. And even if he loses, if it's to the best then what shame is there really in that?
