Khan decides to defend against Maidana....IT'S ON!!

It appears as though the proposed bout between Khan and Maidana, will go ahead. The following is from WBA's website:

So I guess all those claims of Khan ducking Maidana, pretty much go down the toilet now. Props to him for taking on a dangerous puncher, although I do feel it's a risky fight to opt for. He may be lightyears behind Khan in skill, but it seems in order to beat Khan, all you need is dynamite.

We're now gonna get a real chance to see how much Khan has improved under Roach. He's gonna have a monster standing opposite to him when that bell rings

Good job, I'm glad to see him shedding that mollycoddled label.

 

It's a good move and should help his public image. He would be permanently labelled a coward if he ducked every big punching mandatory that comes his way. Perhaps that is why Warren and him split. Warren is known for protecting his fighters and stalling their careers because of his risk adversity.

However, I think the GBP curse continues and Khan will get KTFO after being ahead on the score cards. Maidana is a pretty big puncher and a physically large junior welter as well.

 

Well we'll find out even more about his heart when that first right hand from Maidana lands. He's a proud fighter no doubt, but he can't be using them foolish tactics he used against Prescott. Box and move will be the plan from Roach, but will Khan manage to maintain that for the full 12 rounds? I don't think so, I'm inclined to agree with FatDrunkenSlob above me, he'll be ahead on the scorecards, but fail to keep Maidana off him......Maidana stoppage, RND 9-12

 

Nice freddie roach's gonna have to come in with a good game plan to avoid maidana's power. Khan can defenitely outboxed maidana but watch out cuz maidana got knockout power.

Khan needs to remain focus though out the whole fight and stick to his game plan and not trade openly. Maidana has a weak guard and defence and is a 2D fighter. Khan can make him look real bad. Maidana for me only has a punchers chance.

Full credit to Amir if he goes through with this. His move to the US and Roach -- and away from Warren -- is doing wonders for his career.

I like Maidana, but Khan takes him in this bout.
