Khan and Goldenboy- wise man or ungrateful *****?

Nging him back after the Prescott debacle but that doesn't mean Khan is indebted to him for life. I think this shows a lot of ambition on Khans part - Warren is obviously the top promoter in Britain but if you want to make it in America, there's no place better to be than Golden Boy.

Given their relationship with HBO and all their guaranteed tv dates, this pretty much guarantees Khan a lot of exposure over in the US. It also means he'll have to fight a healthy level of competition because HBO won't buy fights against nobodies.

A great move for Khans career as far as I'm concerned. Given all of Warren's mis-deeds, I'm never going to feel sorry for him.

 

I think Khan might have been better sticking with Warren for another year or so. Fight a few more Salita's, get some more money in the bank before Khan meets his inevitable Waterloo at the hands of some elite fighter.

 

Khan wants to fight the best. He is a warrior and does not want to be another Calzaghe fighting bums in his back garden for years. Khan will go onto be the greatest boxer Britain has ever produced....he is a twat though.

 

If I remember correctly, Hattons main objection to fighting Khan was his association with Warren, so this could turn out to be beneficial in the short-term too.

I do back him. Warren might have brought him back after the Prescott defeat, but he was the one who landed him in the mess .. it took Roach and Co. to bring him up to his current level of boxing. He listens to them and they all want him to fight in the states... Listen to Freddie in the post-fight interview in his last fight.

Course he is going to go to America .. seems very logical as he can become more succesful and earn more money.

 

No such thing as loyalty in the fight game.

Fighters have a short career. He needs to earn as much money as possible in a short space of time and try to win as many titles and beat as many top quality boxers as possible. He has more chance of doing all that with GBP than FW.

 

It comes down to money. Khan can make more and have more control over his career without Warren.

He's got a good family around him, his father's obviously calmed him down, and he clearly loves Freddy Roach. Being around all those tough fighters in the Wild Card must make him want to be be like them. That means tough fights and big challenges.

I think he wants control because he trusts Freddy to pick the right opponents for him, and he knows his dad and business advisers will keep him right. He doesn't need Warren anymore.

 

So how many fights at top level does Khan have in him? I'm sure Golden Boy will take care of him by feeding him a few fights (the usual suspects will be making their interest known already). However and as I've mentioned previously, why take risks with the top contenders if this is really only about top dollar PPV in the US.

Does this mean that if Warren isn't involved and all fights are in the middle of the morning that Sky will give us them for SFA? But only once the bank balance has been increased by feeding him Hatton in Manchester and Malanagi in Las Vegas. Then the profile will have been lifted and all concerned will have had a little slice of the cake... GB might feed him one or two more easier bouts just to make sure their investment is sound then time for the more dangerous guys - Holt or even Ortiz.

I'm not sure if I feel sorry for Warren. Actually don't want to think about it...

 

I wouldn't call Khan "ungrateful", its a short career and he must do what he thinks is best, its his call. Warren did a good job of promoting Khan but he would have also earned a decent amount of money in the process so I'm not going to be getting too upset on his behalf.

 

personally he deserves respect. His last statement on SSN stated that he wanted to fight anybody, anywhere.

Now that was up for debate witht he rumours going around that he would vacte his belt so he wouldn't have to fight Maidana. Roach has now come and stated that, yes he wanted him to face Malignaggi in his 1st fight in America, but no way was he going to pressure him to vacate, as he said "that belt mean the world to him"

So, yes a very wise move by Khan, he gets more exposure in the States and will get the big fights.

I really hope he trys to unify the division, I have a lot of respect for guys that can unify their divisions.

 

Again i cant see how Warren never saw this coming.

All through his promoting of Khan you always heard what Warren wanted to do with Amir and what Team Khan wanted nearly always contradicted each other.

 

Good on him If he's doing what he wants to do to achieve his dreams in the US then thats great
