Rob, it might just be that I'm really tired but please explain what you're implying with that last sentence :good don't get it. Unless your 'far fetched' idea is that Brook could replace Clottey if something went wrong, which I don't think you are.
from the point of view of Bienias and his managment, Kell Brook and Frank Warren its a win win situation. If Clottey was to pull out 10 days before the fight, either fighter would be ready to step in to a fight santioned by the WBO. Fights in Vegas can get cancled no problem, but fights in stadiums cannot (like Haye vs Wlad) and they have to go on with the show. If the fight was offered to etieher Bienias or Brook at short notice, they could get $2million+ payday. Even if Brook goes 6 round with Pacquiao it will be seen as a moral victory, his stock will rise tenfold and within a year Warren will be able to get him another world title shot where Brook has a big enough profile to be PPV. And if he won.................Rematch where he gets paid $10mil, or Floyd Mayweather at Wembley Stadium. Everyones a winner.
Other than the WBO I/C title, why is Brook fighting Bienias? I mean, he has a stoppage loss to Witter like six years ago and has very little by way of decent wins. It's probably written in the stars that a Jennings fight isn't going to happen for various reasons, why not get the Euro title? Or is it magnetically programmed to stay away from Warren shows?
I just can't understand why Frank Warren doesn't realise that most boxing fans realise how shite his cards are???? He has his reasons I know, but is there any excuse for such poor matchmaking here? Although Frankie Gavin has a decent enough fight to be fair.
Or Brook is completely and utterly out of his depth, gets absolutely battered before its stopped and is never the same again.
Mendoza is the sort of opponent that rises to the occasion, give him good opposition and he goes full out just like Mitchell does, this will be more of an exciting fight than some think, he had Murry in trouble and they were only in their early 20's then, not forgetting the fight was'nt in his own back yard either, this fight will be good
