OK, I just finished watching the highlights of the Juanma-Luevano bout, and I have realised his speed has severely decreased. I first noticed it a few fights ago, and it was extremely noticable in the Mtagwa fight..but now he looks real slow. I know he never was amazingly fast, but he was much faster than he is now. Anyone else noticed this?
That and apparently nobody is correcting the mistakes he is making. I am fan as you can see by my avatar but he hasn't show me any improvements in his last few fights other than recovering some power coming up to 126lbs. He couldn't make 122 anymore. I might be wrong, but I honestly think he is not working with the same intensity. A few fights ago his shoulders used to look huge! I still think he can KO Caballero under 5 rounds. But it looks like is going to be Gamboa/Caballero in Miami and Lopez against the winner of Concepcion/Santiago in Puerto Rico the same night. Gamboa has way too much ring experience to let those mistakes pass. Juanma better get to work, seriously.
Yes I noticed his speed has reduced and I also noticed that by the 5th round he was breathing through his mouth WHATS UP WITH THAT??? He looked tired
faded against Mtagwa too. I agree, speed has always been lacking with him and apparently the 4lbs didn't help any......I just cant see him beating Gamboa, simply cant
every fight is diffrent.. he didnt have to use too much speed against luevano.. if u noticed he was catchin him clean with power shots.. and its obvious that worked for this fight.. now if he fights Gamboa thats when u see the speed being a factor.. just my thought
Gamboa has the advantage in both power and speed but let's see if JuanMa's experience can help him in their future bout
Well watching some of his earlier fights, he looked much faster than now. Even though he wasn't greatly fast, it is definate that his speed has reduced. JML-Gamboa is such a toss up fight. If juanma lands hard Gamboa is going down...but Gamboa will cause all types of problems for Juanma, and has a definate chance of knocking him out. His speed and power I think will be too much for Juanma. I hope this fight happens.
Juanma's right hook would be the most important thing in that fight. Gamboa was patient and sharp against Mtagwa but he does have a tendency of leaping in and getting wild and off balance, if Juanma can time him coming in with that nice right hook he has, he could put him on his back...not for long though lol
i was first time to watch gamboa fight the other night. i'm impressed. the guy is faaast. i'll bet my house on him if he ever fights juanma.
Not only has his speed gone away but his power isnt all there either. On top of that he has not improve in his defense at all. He kept his hands down at times during last saturday's fight which could prove to be a mistake against someone like Gamboa. IMHO, Juanma should stay far away from Gamboa for the time been until he improves in his flaws. And YES, he looked tired by the four-fifth round too, he needs to work on stamina....
I think his speed is still the same now as it was before. I think watching Gamboa fight before Juanma set the bar pretty high on speed.
