Currently 158.5 pounds, but that's with a little fat. Cutting fat (but also putting on muscle which weighs more), I would probably 'walk around' at 156 pounds.

What would my ideal weight division, taking into account dehydrating before fights and rehydrating after, etc??

    thanks

You could just box your ass off for a while and see where you end up.

    This.

After you train for a while you may lose more weight, or gain a few pounds.

Assuming you're over 19 your choices are 152 or 165 (I think the weightclasses are a bit different for younger thou I may be wrong). It's a big gap between them and I'm also stuck in the middle, being really low body fat at 160lbs.

how tall are you mate ????

your the same as me mate im 5ft 11ins and walk around 159lbs

if your the same fight at welter 147
im tall and skinny so if i fought at 154/160 i'd get crushed by
strong super middles who come down to 154 and strong as ****
judge fighters like margarito / oscar / p williams etc
these guys are BIG for welters and have a natural size advantage
    works for me anyway :thumbsup

i spent a month & focussed JUST on cutting weight before technical training. i was able to cut around 17 in that time. give it a go & see where you can get to. eat no fat & go hard out at cardio just strip weight.

also, i really dont know what you're getting at doing weights at such a low weight.

Better yet, where are you? I'm not sure how it is overseas but in the US amateur boxing got rid of the 147 lb class years ago. I wanna say it's 141lbs and then the next one is 152 lbs (what I fight at). I'm 6' 1/2" and walk around about 154 give or take one. In the US, yea you can dehydrate but I think it depends on where you are. Example: When I lived in Milwaukee we would weigh in 9am ish. Then the first fight wouldn't start untill like 5pm. I'm in North Carolina now and the last time I competed weigh in started at 11am and the first fight started at 3.

This is for elite though, so if you're under 19 it may be different. I can't think what weights are for juniors, if they're even different.

    thanks for all the advise.

I'm about the same - 5ft 11inch. I wouldn't say 'skinny' but I'm tall and somewhat skinny! I agree with what you said.

I'll train more and see where I end up. Andriy, I don't do hard weight training - just natural muscle being built as I train.
