Post it again. I'll admit this isn't ridiculous sounding.

If that's the route you are taking the definition, neither guy weighed the same anyway. So technically they didn't 'catch' at any weight did they. :D

DLH's whole camp for the Pac fight was a ****ing mess, it's well documented. Sparring partners, trainers, nutrition, everything was a joke.

Dlh always hit the target weight, or there abouts, I believe that the 145 he made was due to a poor camp (deer meat ffs!), even Roach aknowledges this.

Until someone provides hard evidence of a 145 catchweight I'm calling bull****.

    You're so stupid.
A catch weight is a limit.
    Wetlerweight limit 147
catchweight limit can be anything else not already a weight limit.

Easy logic, you will figure it out eventually.

Manny has stated that he was 146lbs at the hotel prior to the official weigh-in and 146lbs after the weigh-in. So in your scenario, Oscar was required to make 145lbs, but Manny was ok at 146lbs? Or are you suggesting Manny is on the record admitting that he failed to make weight, but mysteriously lost 4lbs that reappeared after the official weigh-in?

First it doesn't matter what people say it matters what is on the contract. There is no proof the contract had a provision that stated either fighter was required to come in at or below 145.

Second catchweight has to do with limit not what people weigh in at. The limit for the fight was 147, either fighter can choose to weigh in at 147 or choose to weight below 147. That isn't complicated to comprehend.

If two fighters both weigh in at 146.5 for a welterweight fight with a contractual limit of 147 this doesn't make it a catchweight fight of 146.5 because both fighters were allowed to go up to 147, they chose not to.

    AFter the wieght-in:

"Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao made weight with room to spare on Friday in Las Vegas for their highly anticipated megafight. De La Hoya weighed 145 pounds, two under the contractual limit for the bout. Pacquiao weighed 142."

You're right, it's no accident and it was Oscar who gave him that idea but so far had asked only one fighter, Cotto specifically, to meet him at catchweight. I remember when Pac had just won the WBC 135 belt, some local sportswriters asked him of a possible fight with ODLH as suggested by Larry Merchant (and PACDbest here at ESB) he replied "Ang laki nun at magaling pa, baka sipain lang ako nun sa puwit" meaning "He's too big and too good, He might just kick my ass" It was obvious that Pac had no intention of fighting Oscar who was then a jr MW but Oscar was able to convince Pac to meet him at 147 where Pac would move two divisions up while Oscar would move one division down.
