Harding v andries top fights,top fighters.

Not sure if there's been a better trilogy of top level fights involving an Aussie than these - would certainly have to go back a while anyway, and Fenech v Nelson doesn't qualify.

Will never forget the first fight, that dramatic last round and the euphoria that followed in the ring with Harding, Lewis etc. Then he told his mum "I'm coming home and I'm the champ!!'

Harding certainly had a fighting heart the size of Phar Lap!

 

I reckon that first fight should be in any top ten of Australian sporting moments. Always get passed over in those bull**** lists.

 

Couldn't agree more Leon - he is usually overlooked for lesser achievers.

I dont think there was a tougher Aussie fighter than Harding,,,,last i heard he was doing it a bit tough,and he was 1 of the fittest.

 

Is reported to be doing a little better, who things go well for him.

He's been seen at recent fight nights at looks in great shape and by various media reports/interviews, he's really getting his life back on track.

Jeff Harding would have to be one of the most courageous athletes in this county's history.

The Andres triolgy showed what an amazing engine this fighter had and even today, 20 years after that first bout I still shake my head in amazement at the performance he put up.

Some of our current profile fighters, with their posturing and empty promises ( no names mentioned ) could be considered lucky to be mentioned in the same sentence as Jeff Harding.

Take note, one in particular, do you think in 20 years time people will be speaking of your courage and intestinal fortitude the way they talk about Jeff Harding's today?

Its a shame, a REAL shame Jeff Harding doesn't get the warranted respect deserved to him. Watching Harding vs Andries 1, no matter how many times, the ending is a continuous suprise. As a viewer being drawn into the action over and again, the fight never loses it's initial "**** me dead...HE"S done it!!!!!!!!" atmosphere.

Harding's own response in winning, incredible, encapsulating the very energy of the most ferociously charged underdogs emotions and release of..

Losing in Melbourne served a lesson in stubborness, as Harding learned Manny Hinton had no desire to allow a loss to dictate his own post career record.. Manny must have been a stubborn motivator, as Harding returned to greater glory in recapturing the Belt again.

In hearing the words "split decision" after Harding/Andries III, Harding actually thought "*&^% me... another Fenech". lol.. Not to be, as Harding was again the Champ..

He's said to have not touched a drop in over 12 months now... THE CHAMP IS BACK.

 

Amazing fight between 2 fine warriors.
Their rivalry defined them both as great boxers willing to give it their all.
Words cant describe the feelings i had watching them battle...much like Corrales-Castillo 1

 

I watched #1 when i was seventeen at my friends parents Pub. ( He had Sky Channel in his bedroom) Then bought the video, wore it out. Still watch it on DVD regular. Epic Battle.
