Had Arty Tunstall and his swag of Merry Men not been so pathetically manipulative of the entire Aust. Am scene, Oz may very well have been afforded an Olympic GOLD medal by now. Canavan & Kirby created a much needed break away from the Sydney Muppets who dictated the Am scenes Olympic Team selections- inturn, providing the nation with many BRILLIANT fighters who went on to great heights.

Arty Tunstall's now completely out of any juristiction.. It's time for AABA & AABL to do whats best for the National Am Boxing scene.. re-unite and give our locals kids a better chance of Olympic glory prior to joining the Pro ranks.

    Easier said than done.

Newsletters I've kept from 16 years ago state the arrangements and efforts made by the AABL, in effort to become completely affiliated with all concered for the sake of providing potentially considered fighters for the Olympic trials.

The AABL forced, by the ****s in so-called power, to operate as NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION & ENTITY FROM THE CONVENTIONAL...stemmed the entire flow of hopefulls into the Olympic future, yet maggots in NSW or pro-active with AABA ideals remained totally convinced of no harm being done to Aust Am Boxing....

AABL being allowed Commonwealth selection opportunities?? That's no consellation... Arty Tunstall is gone, and no longer controlling the AABA.. His successors, I hope they've a similation of intelligence, now hav

All Amateur boxers in this country deserve a chance to represent our country at an International Level!!

How can we be sending our best teams to these events when all the young boxes out there are not even given the chance to compete an a level playing field. The AABL has been running for around 25 years now with no Government Funding and no recognition for their boxers.

I don't agree that all the associations (AABL, ABA, Global) should merge, let them all run there own race, but it is about time they all get together and let their best boxers fight off for a chance to represent.

It's time for all the administrators in the sport to stop feeding there egos and start doing what is best for this great sport. Get the political bull**** aside and start doing the right thing for the kids who train their guts out & compete. The ABA do not own this sport, the people do!

I don't know much about any ABA boxers, but there is some great Talent in the AABL & Global Ranks.

AABA consistently produces the quality. Some topline boxers from the AABL have crossed over and become national champs, but a lot have struggled too. Shaun Quagliotto was a national champ in the AABL. In the AABA, he would have struggled to win a state title.

I've boxed and won titles in both ABA and ABL but i believe the ABA is producing more skilled boxers in regards to the AM game (No idea who makes better pros).

Simple because of the AIS, international tournaments etc etc that the ABL doesn't have. Also i found th eleague was alot more disorganised then the ABA with things like Aussie titles as anyone could enter no previous title had be won to compete..... good and a bad thing i guess coz all the top ABL fighters were guanteed to be there plus the lesser fighters were there tryin their luck to... there would end up being divisions with HEAPS of fighters so just to make it to the finals you'd have to win multiple fights against guys from every state.... bad thing though as it's not just champions fighting champions i guess....

Although i have seen some amazing talent in the league!! being a league fighter doesn't necessarily mean your any less capable in the ring as the ABA blokes.

Basically they both have there Pro's and Con's but i had to chose 1 to fight with it would be ABA (when i get back inthe ring i'll be 100% ABA as i dont wanna miss out on bein able to try out for international teams etc)

Personally i believe Aurther has had his run and its time for him to go!! The leagues need to be united if not 1 record card for both and let boys fight in both.

It's great that you have the chance to make the choice and can pursue your dreams. Unfortunately all boxers don't have the luxury of being able to make that choice, as there are many boxers who live in small country towns that have only 1 gym to train at. If that Gym is a League affiliated gym then there is no chance for them. They don't get a look in because of their geographical location.

Every kid who competes in any sport dreams of wearing the green & gold.It seems wrong to me that where you live effects your chance of achieve these goals.

The 2 best boxers from the AABL, AABA and Global from each weight division should be boxing it out to qualify for all international events.

    Sounds pretty fair to me.

Anyone who stands out in each you think has a big future in the pro ranks?

I can honestly say I as fought in both the AABL and AABA, the AABA is of a much higher level specific to the amateur style of fighting.......although the AABL may be more pro like, I still believe the AABA produces the better all round fighters

All you need to do is watch the AABL National Titles then watch the AABA National Title, to me there is no comparison.

I do agree that the anti AABL held by the national committe is wrong and all boxers should have a chance to represent there state and country, however I disagree with the notion of the top two divisions should fight it out for representation...it should be 1 competition to find out who is best...You just need to look at the past AABL 2009 titles and although all the fighters put their heart and soul into the fights, most (not all), would have not even made it past a state title to even get a chance to fight for a national title in the AABA.

I can use myself as an example I won a NSW state title in my 6th ever fight in the AABL......it took me another 20 in the ABA to get a shot and win that via a round robin.....I had to fight guys like Ryan Water, Zac Award, Tyrone Tongia etc.....These guys are AABA fighters and have gone on to be solid pros......

Basically the AABA produces better fighters. I do no intend to offend but this is the way it is currently.

    Thats what I think anyway

I Agree 100% the whole living ina country town (technically a city but still in land enough to be country lol) is the whole reason i fought with the League to begin with.... had a few fights with ABA but after we just simply couldnt get to the fights for ABA and got sick of having to travel for multiple hours to fights when we were missin chances to fight as close as an hour away or once i even missed out on fighting in my home town. We stepped in the League and basically fought where ever the fights were that we could get to ABA or League....

And due to the whole league not fighting in ABA rule and risk of bans if those ABA officials are patroling the forums lol i wont disclose my true identity HAHA lol

It's pretty clear through the posts so far, an element of 'we're better... no ya not!' lives on.. BRILLIANT...

Combine the elements into a single Am National entity, focus the drive into Olympic and Commenwealth glory and provide a Nation with reason to cheer...

Ahh-Humm.. Arty Tunstall deserves a cursed level reason to go to his soon to be occupied grave without a smile... The 'Pearly Gates' will have a sign.. "**** OFF Arty... From Lionel and Cathy".

I also think part of it comes down to the opportunities the ABA guys get!

there is definately some great talent in the ABL but nothin in place to help take the talent to the next level..... If some of the top guys in the ABL had the AIS Training camp, the chance for boxing scholarships etc etc then they could be fighting at the highest level regardless of what association they fight with!!!....
