After the Winky fight, Hopkins called out Calzaghe and I didn't hear a reply.

My point stands! Wouldn't Pavlik want to fight the best SMW rather than the second best?;)

Wheather or not they can defeat him has nothing to do with the fights being made.

I wish I could agree with you, mate! I guess we have different views on the circle-jerking debate...:yep (Joe is never, nor will he ever be in the circle; he wanted to be once; now he simply shouldn't even if he could)

Joe vs Diaconu in late 08 or early 09 could be big time too. I really like Dawson, but had Diaconu not had to pull out with injury we might have a new champ.

Nah i would say he is waiting for the "runner up aka 2nd place" from the Contender series.

:huh You don't think that could be a good one? I can't tell if you are using sarcasm. If not I appologize early, but Diaconu IMO could have beat Dawson.

Of course I mean it! Joe is just about more likely to fight Hatton at MW than Diaconu at LHW...

I like Diaconu a lot. He was unlucky to get injured. He didn't duck Dawson. I was very much looking forward to that fight - it would have been a good test for Dawson, but Dawson was the clear favourite! Now that he has missed his chance, who knows when/whether Diaconu will get another crack at Dawson. According to the rules, he should, as he had to stand aside due to an injury...but you know how it is...if he doesn't impress in his next tune up fight like he did against Hoye...will there still be a big market for him? (I doubt that he will fight Dawson in the latter's very next fight.)

I hope this doesn't happen, I'd rather Joe stepped up.

It will be one sided. I can't think of much Pavlik has going for him in this fight. His only advantage is power, but Calzaghe has a very good chin unlike Taylor who looked shakey at best. I think he would also be suprised by Calzaghe's power, this reputation as a slapper plays into Calzaghe's hands. I'd be suprised if Calzaghe at SMW doesn't hit as hard as Taylor, and one thing is for certain, Pavlik will take a hell of a lot more shots than he did in that fight.

    Calzaghe TKO.

Either of Kessler or Calzaghe would have an easy time with Pavlik.

Remember, Pavlik was almost destroyed by Taylor, who doesn't hit as hard and has nowhere near the finishing skills of Mikkel or Joe.

And given your comment re Eubank:

You must be new to the sport ( or gotten into some cheap pharmaceuticals) .

:good Diaconu is a beast for sure. I was really looking forward to him fighting Dawson and that would have been a hell of a fight.

Almost destroyed means nothing. No one will have an easy time with Pavlik.
