jones won't ko hopkins. but hopkins isnt very active and unless he is the one who catches jones and jones stays on his feet he has a chance to outwork bernard. unlikely...yes...impossible...no

Hopkins is not a guns blazing fighter who will rush in for that early KO. He also lacks one punch KO power. Jones will get into the later rounds where Hopkins usually shines and to my guess loses on points down the stretch of an interesting but not entertaining fight with Jones staying away and Hopkins looking to counter.

It's definetly an intriguing question, could RJJ beat Hopkins... Well he's done it already.

Hopkins seems to have problems with really fast, skilled boxers, but that is it. Taylor, Calzaghe and a young Roy could box and move and end up with a close decision, but no other has done that.

Perhaps some fighters were smaller, but you can't take away great performances against De La Hoya, Trinidad, Tarver and Pavlik. Hopkins is still very much alive and an all time great. Jones himself would be in doubt, if he was to recognize the fighter looking back in the mirror today, in comparison with the p4p king from the 90's. There are no similarities, nothing which would indicate, that Jones could beat Hopkins today. Hopkins has the rock solid chin, the awkward style and wisdom from countless battles in the ring, while Jones is lagging the reflexes and snap which made him so great. A quick jab kept an average aussie at bay for 90 seconds, Hopkins don't take chances in the ring, but once he gets to Roy, we might hear glass shattering again...

It's really a sad story, Jones is a shot fighter, anyone who thinks differently is plain wrong. He's nowhere near the fighter who fought Hopkins i 93.

Roy Jones continues to show flashes of his former self. At 41, it is hard for him to be his 21 year old self. However he can beat Hopkins. Hopkins was faster in 93 and put up a quicker fight. Hopkins does have the knowledge but not the endurance and pace to defeat Jones. Jones unanimous decision.

Would bet my life on Hopkins considering where the two are in their careers. B-Hop takes zero chances, and Roy is about as tough as a wet paper bag......

Jones just needs to go away. He's finished. Im tired of seeing him get beat up. Im expecting this bout to be very boring though. Both guys prefer to counter. Considering Jones has lost at least 20 steps an offensive that lasts longer than 5 seconds is probably out of the question.

Green didn't rush RJJ; he caught him with an overhand counter right that turned his legs to rubber for almost a minute. Hopkins may not have the one punch power of Green, but he loves throwing the counter overhand right and is very accurate with it. RJJ lack of lateral movement and diminished reflexes makes him a dead on target for overhand counters all night long (see his fights with Calzaghe, Green, Tarver) Hopkins may not KO him, but he can and will TKO him.

Where can I bet on fights? Because if its like 42:1 for Hopkins I'll put everything on Roy Jones and Jones will win and I'll be rich!

Hopkins is not an aggresive style fighter.... one can look at the JC and Lacy fights to see that Jones still has some physical ability left, im not buying the fight but ill be interested in reading how jones does here....

Yes because Roy needs a guy who doesnt use a high workrate and Hopkins does not its more on the level of Jones workrate which isnt terribly low but not exactly high. Roy still to this day is incredible fast with his hands and he is faster then Hopkins and Hopkins has had trouble with the fast handed fighters like Jones, DLH (early), Taylor and Calzage. Roy's punch resistance is gone but Hopkins hasnt knocked anyone out with a head shot in almost a decade. I think Roy actually makes this competitive but coming off another KO loss hes going to be very gunshy much like he was for several fights after the Tarver and Johnson knockouts. Hopkins will apply some pressure and put some combos on Roy when his back is on the ropes and I think this is what wins him the majority of the rounds in a very boring fight. I hope Jones pulls it out because hes one of my 2 favorite fighters and Hopkins pulling this BS hes pulling deserves a loss. Karma is a ***** remember Hopkins was so pissed losing the 1st time to JT he refuses to do chairty work with Ring Magazine when they wouldnt keep him as their Middleweight Champion and in the buildup to the JT rematch he said he wanted to end JTs life and the result was another loss. With Calzaghe its the classless racist remark ill never lose to a white boy and he did. Now here hes trying to use RJJs name and damn near corpse body compared to what he was years ago and avenge a loss and make a few million.
