That is crazy. If someone asked for it and were denied, they should just drop it. However, if the other party agrees to it and then keeps coming with sill excuses for why they need to amend the testing requirements, and then continue to balk at the test even after their proposed ammendments are met by the other party, then that situation is totally different. In that case, the party backing out on their word and refusing to comprimise, would be at fault.
Going by that logic, if they both have never had trouble and won't have trouble making weight. Then the overweight penalty won't even be a factor. And if it is not a factor then it doesn't show that someone doesn't want the fight. It shows that they are concerned that the other fighter wants an unfair weight advantage, therefore there should be a stiff penalty !!!
We're not talking about Pac here. Were talking about Mosley. I just hope that if he agreed to non standard drug testing that he covered his own ass with a stiff overweight clause. Going by your logic, if Mosley ain't roiding and Mayweather makes weight since he "doesn't have a problem making 147", then all is good and everyone is covered !!!!!
I dissagree. Even if a fighter has never had problems making weight, there's a first time for everything. If the fighter agrees to the penalty and then gets sick or hurt, and misses some training, he could possibly come in slightly overweight. Dirrell had never had problems making weight and was like a fraction of a lb. over the limit. He of course lost the weight and made weight on his second try. Let's say Froch had insituted say a $1 mill per lb. penalty, Dirrell would be out $1 mill even though he eventually made weight. Overweight clauses are only neccesary in catchweight bouts or non title bouts. There's no reson to have them in a title belt between two guys from the same weight class who are fighting at the weightclass limit.
