I'm picking Shane but do not really care much who wins. Floyd signed the fight, good enough for me. If Floyd wins any which way, I might become a floydie... :deal
I went back to watch the Zab/Floyd fight and at first I thought Floyd beats Mosley. Now I am sitting on the fence about it. I definately think Pac defeats Mayweather but now if Mosley could do something Zab was doing in the early rounds then he can defeat Mayweather too. Straight left, right hook, while turning to the right. Continually circle Mayweather to his right because it is his weak side. When you turn to his left you are turning into his strengths because the left side of his face and body is never as protected as his right. Zab had the right idea but his hotheadedness let the plan fall apart the moment he got smacked on the face a couple of times then it was all over for Zab. WAR MOSELY:bbb:bbb:bbb
Much as i hope mosley wins i just cant see it. Too much ring rust and age catching up with him. Its not so long ago he had trouble with mayorga and everyone said he was finished. I think it could be close but much as i hate to say it fmj by close-ish UD. I really do hope im wrong though
I see Mosley trying to impose himself early on the fight, trying to land big hooks and let Floyd know about his power right from the get go. Whether or not he's able to land one in the early rounds, I dont know, but I do see it as his plan. Mayweather's never been in the ring with as hard a puncher as shane and I think shane will look to pry on this ignorance, in an attempt to shake May's standard fight plan up, confuse him a little. After round 3/4 I think we'll see mayweather settling in to a rhythym, the typical outside boxing majesty, and he'll be landing clean, precise punches whilst keeping out of too much harms way. What I do think makes this fight different for Floyd, is Mosley will continue to stalk Mayweather, eating through the punches forcing him from corner to corner. Mayweather being the incredibly intelligent fighter he is will forever be on the back foot, he'll know the last thing he wants is to go toe to toe with Shane. May up on the scorecards come round 10/11, im thinking, something along the lines of 5-7 points up. Mayweather will be more drained at this stage than he's ever been, both physically and mentally, although I expect the latter to be the defining factor in my predicted outcome. Shanes going to be looking for a TKO. I suppose "looking" is the wrong word, I see Shane pursuing a tko like a mad man at this stage, he's got the stamina (at least I hope he still will), he'll be piling the pressure on May and I think he'll get his TKO. One thing I will add, I can't deny that my prediction may be based on favortism, though I try to remain as objective as I can. Maybe im just seeing Shane as the hero in the "Money" saga and im giving him too much credit for what he's worth. I will however, stick by my prediction .
Is this the same inability to train that Cotto had that allowed him to out box Mosley? Cotto was not fighting his usual style using like Plan C or D and was able to DECISIVELY take the fight. Now would you be trying to say that Cotto has better footwork and the ability to pot shot and score points than Mayweather? Come on man. Now I won't count Mosley out because this is boxing. It only takes one slip up to end a fight. Mayweather has a tendency to throw a lazy 1-2 and get caught over the top. I think the chances of Mosley winning are slim. Props to you for giving FMJ his just due. I would say the same for Mosley.
I hope not, it was that strategy that made DLH look old and half ******ed chasing Floyd around like that waiting for his ko.
Man Mayorga is a wild swingin reckless monster. Everybody has Problems with his Style at first some adjust and some don't. Floyd would of look Bad against Mayorga also. LOL Remember how Forrest was getting knock all over the place. Far as age catching up with Him...In this day and age special fighters (like Bhop) can still do special things if they take care of themselves in and out the ring. If Mosley had suffered devastating beatings back to back and lived a unhealthy life style then maybe age would catch him but he doesn't so he's gonna be more then ready May 1 believe that. Mosley hasn't been sitting around for a year retired. I'm pretty sure he's been preparing for this very opportunity by staying fit and sparring. This will be the biggest fight in his life and he will come out victorious.
To this and your other post... It was also the same strategy that Zab used to give us 4-5 great rounds. It eventually got him handled though. I suspect the outcome will be the same if Mosley attempts it.
I'm certainly not saying that Cotto is a better boxer than Floyd, but if we are to use this method of deduction then everyone may just have presumed Margarito would have handed Mosley's arse to him on a plate, but we all know what happened there. Additionally, I think we can draw into question Cotto's contextual fortitude given hindsight. Should he not have controversially lost to Margarito, we may have seen him progress on to bigger and better wins. To clarify, would we be using Mosley's loss to Cotto as such a defemating feat had Cotto beaten Marg/Pac? When I refer to Mayweathers training not being able to prepare him for Mosley, it's that I don't think he'll be sparring with opponents with the same legitimacy as Mosley. To calrify, I'm sure only few would argue its been nothing less than a ball ache getting Floyd to fight a real welterweight, and I honestly think he'll adopt the same attitude in training. He'll be fighting lightweight/jr welters who's power/determination will in no way be synonymous with that of Mosley's.
