Just picked it up and not a bad read, was interested to see Jamie Pittmans open letter to Anthony Mundine. Must say I enjoyed the local fight round ups, the guy who did the write up on the card in Perth certainly seems to know his stuff and really should have his own monthly column...
WELL I HEARD the guy who allegedly copied the article from another magazine was in fact rewriting his own material that had been copied and stolen from a famous boxing website and put in said boxing magazine with no credit given to the original author. Smartarse. Your dvd prices just doubled.
Some superbly written material from the Perth correspondent. As I was reading it, I could hear the ghosts of old commentators "Hello fight fans..." :good
Will check if the newsagents have a copy at lunchtime. The ESB contribution to Fist is becoming significant. Perhaps this litterary genius from Perth could do a monthly 'Dear John' (or even Leon?) column where he tackles letters from our resident nut-cases! When Fist first upgraded to the glossy format my missus looked over my shoulder whilst I was ogling the ring-girl page and asked 'What's that magazine?' To which I answered 'Fist'. She rolled her eyes and walked away thinking porn, more porn!
I'm surprised Leon they didn't let you submit some of those brilliant photos you had taken at the show. That would of really enhanced your reporting!!
Next time you should just write up two reports, one for the copy cats :yep and a real one. It would be good to see a Copy Cat version in the Fist
Would love to see Pittman fight Mundine, if they were both in good nick it would be an awesome fight, I think Pittmans style would make Choc fight on the front foot a bit more and regardless of the result it would be a fan favourite. Mundine owes it to himself (and all the fans who have made him a millionaire) to fight someone who will challenge him. Unlike some of the warm bodies he has fought of late
Unbeknownst to Ray in the initial report I never mentioned the knockdown in the Yamaguchi-Lerio fight. Strangely enough, that detail wasn't in the World of Boxing report either. Go figure.
Mundine may just find Pittman an awkward opponent - there was certainly speculation as to why Pittman wasn't included in the Contender. ...interestingly, Mundine hasn't fought a southpaw since Bargero in 2001!
Well public opinion regarding Mundines class of opponents lately probably couldn't get much lower and I seriously wouldnt underestimate Jamie in this tussle
How bout the ringcard girl of the month , what a hottie. Good on the boys at the fist for picking Garth Wood for the fighter of the month , well deserved award. i dont know about the aussie top 15, I wouldnt rate Daniel geale above Sakio Bika, very close to call but I would have Sakio ahead. Other than that the mag is a credit to australian boxing.
