Definitely. Infact, ever since Cortez took a point off Hatton, Hatton just got even more reckless...maybe out of desperation. I think FLoyd would have still won though.

 

I'm a big supporter of Ricky and I reckon the first few rounds would have been better for him and he wouldn't have got frustrated to the point that PBF would have delivered a masterclass in the last four rounds... but the masterclass was coming. The win would have still been huge.

If Hatton showed the ability to get the better of it on the inside, in the clinches, than maybe it might've made a difference. Mayweather got the better of it on the inside as well with his own roughhouse tactics, and repeatedly dug in good body shots with his free hand (usually the right).

Mayweather turned it up in the 8th and then stopped Hatton in the 10th.

Hatton can complain that it was him "losing his head" after getting a point deducted, but he always comes in with that leaping left hook. He knocked out Maussa with it. He did it early in the fight with Mayweather, with Manny Steward pointing out "Floyd's looking for the check hook when Hatton comes in". Hatton did it against against Lazcano, and got hurt. He did it against Malignaggi and got hit, but Paulie can't punch. Hatton did it against Pacquiao, and got knocked on his stomach for his troubles.

It's a bad habit he hasn't learned to fix and paid for it dearly in his two losses.

 

It might have meant that Hatton didn't get KO'd. But I don't think he would have won. I thought Cortes did a fine job that night. That fight was almost unwatchable at times due to Hatton's tactics. I understand it's what wee Rick had to try to do to win, but it's not the ref's job to handicap the fight. But when Cortes finally had enough, after clinch after clinch and when it was obvious that all that would happen was more of the same, he broke them early. It's then that you saw the separation in skills between the two fighters.

PS- I was rooting for Ricky boy that night, but Floyd knows how to pick his opponents. Hatton's only chance was to do what he did. But, as a boxing fan, I can't stand to watch it.

 

Cortez was ****ing disgusting, watching him pose for pictures with Floyd after the fight made my blood boil, he was bought. When Floyd landed, even on the inside Cortez did **** all. When Ricky went to work early on he was jumping in like a ****ing zebedee

Floyd was destroying Ricky on the inside when they did mix it up. He is simply a better fighter.

 

Hatton would still lose regardless of who the ref was. Hatton's style was made to order for FMJ.

Well I watched the Kosta fight and I thought Ricky was cheating. It looked like a judo match.

I think Cortez could have let it get a bit dirtier and I didn't like the point taken away, but if it turned into that crap that happened against Kosta I would have been upset.

 

Floyd simply gave him a boxing lesson..Hatton's a very predictable fighter offensively and even if Cortez allowed more "activity " for Hatton on the inside, Floyd would've adjusted in 2-3 rds tops...

 

No flod was totaly protected that night, if ricky was allowed to work his game plan it could hace turned out a lot different.
The reff on the night was a ****ing disgrace, we all know how ricky likes to fight, and flod made sure even in the build up that he would be protected from the pressure ricky makes.

 

Codswallop. The shite that Ricky got away with simply would not be tolerated anywhere else, especially against a bigger name fighter with a bigger draw.
