I have heard him say this repeatedly. I also remember vividly hearing Uncle Roger say "that's bull****". Floyd Sr. I've also heard say Floyd very rarely watches fights. Apparently Floyd trains his way and then rocks up to a fight, observes you and then adapts. That was always something I thought was great about him.

Well that is horse ****. In that latest interview Floyd does with SkySports he says that he is just taking this easy, hanging out with his team, going over the game plan. Wtf...

I dont understand what you mean? So he says he is going over his game plan therefore that means he watches videos?

    Huh?

The trainers watch the fight tapes, doctor a game plan and then teach Floyd. Floyd then executes what was taught.

Maybe he just occasionally does...who knows? But if Floyd says he doesn't watch fight tape when he really does...he is just being himself, really.

It sounds cool to say you don't watch videos. It says you are so bad ass you don't have to think about your opponent's style until you're already in the ring. Is this true? Who knows. But I don't pay attention if they say they do or don't. If he doesn't watch the videos I'm sure his trainer does.

Well if he doesn't it proves he is cocksure and arrogant at best and foolish and naiive at worst. But I take your point and agree with you, all the quotes and speculation is worthless.

You cant accuse Mayweather of slacking in his fight preperation and he has always managed to figure out his opponent. So if he doesn't personally watch the tapes, he obviously gets a good analysis of the opponent drummed into him in training. You can never overstate the importance of a trainer, they can be the difference between good and great (though I wish I wasn't going from talking about Floyd to the importance of a great trainer as he could be the exception to that rule).

he always said he dont watch tapes of fighters but he still has a game plan.he has different game plans for every fight.infact i think roger watches the tapes and then he comes up with the game plan and mayweather excutes it very well.mayweather has an i dea of what hes going to do from the sparring he has.

It's hard to know with the Mayweathers how much of what they say is psychology or just sheer arrogance. To be honest, they don't appear to be intelligent enough to be playing such sophisticated mind games with there opponents.

However, it does appear that their training methods, at least those that I have seen from youtube and 24/7, don't ever seem to change very much. Floyd does seem to instinctively have a natural gift for boxing, reflexes like a catch and is a great counter puncher. I don't know how much of a role Roger and Floyd Snr are playing in training Floyd as at this stage in his career he probably only needs someone to hold the pads for him, and stroke his ego, while he goes through the motions himself.

how come the dont appear to be intelligent enough to be playing such sophisticated mind games ?

of course they are bub, you are talking about mayweathers.i dout there are many that know more about the sport then they do.boxing runs deep in there bloodline, they forget more then we would ever know about boxing.

we are talking about boxing right ? if so then i cant think of to many otheres that would no more let alone just as much.

I don't doubt the boxing abilities of any of the Mayweather family, but I sometimes struggle with interpreting, as some others do, that they are extremely gifted in the art of psycological war. For the most part, I take what they say as pure arrogance, which I suppose as weapon of mid games. But most fighters who get under another fighters skin probably don't believe a lot of what they are saying, they just use it for affect. The Mayweathers seem to be totally convinced that they speak only the truth, no matter how absurd the statment.

Supposedly Roger watches tapes come up with the gameplan and Floyd rolls with it
