Ottke vs Robin Reid is boxing at it's WORST.

It was so obvious the Ottke camp had paid that ref off.

IMO his career should always have an asterisk next to it, with the reasons many have posted above. The only thing the guy has going for him is his undefeated record. Real boxing fans know that the guy either fought bums to pad out his record or paid off corrupt officials to judge fights in his favour. Ottke was the perfect definition of a protected Euro fighter who never left his backyard. Ottke is one of the main reasons fighters absolutely dread, or simply refuse to fight in Germany.

Should he deserve to get in?? Absolutely not. The guy deserves to be in the Hall of Shame. Will he? Most likely due to politics.

That's the real problem with the guy's record... Because I'm Dutch I could see a lot of his fights, and almost all where close decisions with him always getting the nod.
And some of them he just clearly should have lost, I only watched the bouts in the hope sombody would finally spark him out.
If his all his bouts were fairly judged, he should have a 27-7 or something instead of a 34-0

    Terrible statement.

Yes, Reid won and the whole fight in general was shambles, particularly the referee's performance.

But Ottke didn't get nearly the amount of 'hometown decisions' that people say he did. He lost that fight, maybe to Larsen and/or Brewer I, but I've seen people claim he lost 6 or 7 fights and get gifts which just isn't true.

My answer to the question though is no.

Believe me, a lot of the fights were very close and would have probably lost a few of them if they hadn't be held in Germany. Plus there were the fights he clearly should have lost... I don't think it's an exaggeration to say he should have lost 6 or 7

    No.
You're fast making the transition from an objective critic to a biased apologist.

You don't get into the hall by having a ref that prevents opponents from hitting you.

Where do you work where someone knows who Sven Ottke is???

Great career, way underrated and unfairly maligned on this board, but not a hall of famer. He beat good but not great fighters.

Oh, and the Reid fight was a robbery, but every other close decision was either Ottke winning or close enough to have gone either way.

No I don't think so, but he will be inducted because of his title defences, even though he never fought outside of Germany.

The Reid fight was a joke!

I'm still mad at Ottke for retiring when he did, robbing me and countless others the pleasure of seeing him pulverised at least once, just to make up for the many boring fights and dodgy decisions in his career. No 1 SMW? HOF? LOL...

Sure Sven Ottke should and will enter HOF. The reason? He is not only the
best SMW of all times but simply the best boxer overall;).
To those who think S.O. was a bum: whom do you think the most dangerous boxer nowadays? Vitali Klitschko, isn't he? Ok then take notice of the following:
Before turning pro Sven Ottke had one of the longest amateur careers in boxing. He won 286 out of 335 bouts, thus winning against later light heavyweight champions Darius Michalcewski, Zolt Erdei and Antonio Tarver, later heavyweight contender Juan Carlos Gomez and Heavyweight Champions Michael Moorer and Chris Byrd.
And who was the only one winning against Vitali Klitschko? Yes, Chris Byrd.
So you easily see: Sven Ottke defeated the man who won against your current most dangerous boxer of the world...After turning pro Ottke was undefeated in 34 bouts, he took 23 defences of his IBF Supermiddleweight title and unificated with the WBA Titel. So he was for sure a very slick and effective boxchampion, might be the one with the longest overall carrer ever( I don't really know) and he fought and won against really good opposition(especially as an amateur).
    F. i.: this does not mean that I personally did like watching his fights...
