I didn't think he was extremely impressive with Perez. He seemed to have not his usual body movement and seemed a bit disinterested.
I figure making weight took it's toll.
Arguably was knocked down in the 2nd.
But the 2 hooks he finished him off with were beautiful.

Sorry but Japanesse fighters do not unify much less fighting for a belt that Japanesse comision do not recognize, if you guys want a Japanesse fighter unifiying against the wbo and ibf champion nned to woke up because unless they trow the belt away they are no unification.

It is possible that Hozumi will stay at 118 after all, depending on his decision early 2010. "My mind is wavering between staying as the champ and moving up to the heavier division. The possibility is now on fifty-fifty. I'd like to consider for some two months and then hope to make a decision."

BTW, if you like Hasegawa's boxing, here's a great sparring session between him and outstanding ex-115lbs champ Tokuyama Masamori. I have no idea when this session took place, but by guess would be around 2005(?).

Thats been on there for a while BigB, so Id imagine its at least 3-4 years old.

Tokuyama challenged Hozumi many a time but couldnt bag the fight. Hozumi was still pretty green then and you cant blame him for not wanting to take on Masamori. Who by this session seem to give Hozumi the fits.

Tokuyama was a very, very good fighter himself. Great athlete and pure boxer.

According to a Japanese newspaper, Hasegawa will fight against WBO bantamweight king Fernando Montiel on April in Japan and Japan Boxing Commission will authorize the fight as a unification bout.
