Rafael Marquez will again face Israel Vasquez in May for the fourth time. I am not sure what Rafa has to prove against Vasquez if he lost twice already to this fighter. Sometimes rematches like these confuses boxing fans of their purpose to fight each other. Unless they are fighting for a title belt again. I know those three fights they had were exciting, but I just didn't expect a fourth encounter anymore.

Fight like these used to be good because of the rivalry but it's not that era anymore! Ray Robinson & Lamotta could do it in the 50's because fighting against someone more than 3 times was normal but hey it's 2010 things chsnged.

I agree a fourth fight just seems pointless. An awesome trilogy for sure but I really think they've caused enough damage to each other to last em both a lifetime.

ive got mixed feelings about it no doubt but id rather see them make good money against each other than become cannon fodder for some young fighter on the way up for small change.

the real answer has to be, because Showtime wants it.

these two need to move on to other fights but Showtime doesnt want that when theyll likely fight on HBO instead.

It'll be a good fight. They'll get paid a lot of money. What's the problem?

Money, money, money, they make more money than fighting anyone in their division

They're fighters. People want to see them fight each other. Why shouldn't they fight each other? Right now - their biggest paychecks will come from fighting each other.

Their third encounter is one of the best fights I've ever seen. If the fights continue to be that exciting and that competetive, they can fight each other a hundred times and I'll still watch.

  14. Biggest payday of each man's career. I'd say that's a pretty good reason. And, they're a throwback to the days when rivals would fight one another multiple times.

A fourth fight makes sense. The first three were too good not to have another one if they both want to do it and Showtime wants to pay for it.
