Higher atg ranking lewis vs mayweather!

You guys need to sort your **** out, seriously.

Mayweather is light yrs better than Lewis in every department except power.

Not suprisingly - as I expected - Lewis has twice as many votes :rofl

 

So? Shane Mosley is better than Tyson, Pacquiao is better than Frazier, JMMarquez is better than Holyfield.

Boxers in the lower divisions are simply better. They are able to fight at a faster pace, can throw off faster punches and more combinations, and the difference in footwork and agility is massive.

Anyway, Lewis has a better resume. Mayweather hasn't beaten anyone as good as Tua, Klitschko or Holyfield. Most of his wins are comparable to Briggs or Mercer.

 

I seem too remember Lewis bining his WBA strap instead of facing John Ruiz.

Very over-rated imo.

Also. the chap that says Lewis revenged both defeats with brutal rematch stoppages, where have you been?

Its rather hard to give Lewis any credit at all for the McCall rematch (not his fault), But plucking a fighter from rehab an trying to knock him out while he stands with his hands down crying in the ring isn't my idea of a brutal rematch stoppage.
(he still didn't even finish him off)

 

Lewis is right up there with Duran, Pacquiao & Whitaker as the most overrated man on ESB.... but at least those guys deserve the praise most of the time, Lewis doesnt IMO & when you start to place him higher than Mayweather, that just reinforces my point.

Lewis avoided a prime Tyson! Tyson was already finished when he faced Lewis, so I can't really give him credit for that. Lewis was being picked off by Vitali as he looked for that one lucky punch! He should have really given him a rematch. This was a response to the statement 'Lewis avoided no-one.'

I'm not sure who i'd rate higher in the ATG's list.

Lewis is a former undisputed Heavyweight champion, winning the Heavyweight title on three seperate occasions.
Mayweather is a six time World champion, winning titles in five different weight classes.

If Mayweather goes onto beat Mosley and Pacquiao...I'd rate him higher. But for now I can't choose between them.

Also, whoever claims Mayweather's resume is padded knows nothing about boxing...you have to take into consideration how his opponents were rated at the time, he wasn't the favourite for every bout. Mayweather hasn't accomplished all he could have in the Welterweight division, and thats about it.

You wouldn't concider that ducking. Fair enough Lewis went on to fight ATG Michael Grant.lol (maybe more worthy as he was unbeaten at the time)

Holyfield stepped up an fought Ruiz for the vacant title Lewis ran away from.

(I'm not saying Ruiz would've beat Lewis, But when people claim he ducked noone, his running away from mandatories needs bought to their attention)

Lewis doesn't really have a defining fight, a fight against another great in their prime that defind him as a great fighter. Feel free to post if you can think of one.

Good champion but a long shot of great imo.

 

close but clear for mayweather...mayweather has yet to lose....and has a good resume, it is not ****, like a lot of ESB makes it out to be....Plus, Lewis' losses were not to elite guys either....but lower tier fighters...

 

Again Lewis not fighting Tyson in his prime is not Lewis's fault. Lewis was Tysons mandatory and was paid $3m in step aside money... Lewis as a amateur was used as a sparring partner by the up and coming pro Tyson and after the first round it is well documented that Tyson was handed a beating by a green amateur Lennox Lewis and was sent away from sparring.
The Vitali fight is becoming a myth. Vitali won rounds 1-4, lost rounds 5 and 6 and got stopped because his face was half hanging off... against an old and worst conditioned Lennox Lewis ever seen in a pro ring.

Anyway back to the thread. PBF is the more skilled fighter.. Lennox currently ranks higher ATG because of the fighters he beat

 

I'm only going off what I know. Lewis may have been paid off, but I don't understand why he would accept the money. He is the mandatory for a World Title but accepts the money instead(although $3million is a lot of money)...strange.
Sparring is completely different to an actual bout, so you can't read too much into that.

 

Right now it's Lennox comfortably.

 

Prime Tyson years are considered 86/87-90.

As of October 1990 Lewis had just won the EBU HW title, had a record of 14-0.

It took till May 93 for Lewis to position himself for a shot at the title, Tyson was in jail.
