Fine, but saying you want something and making clear moves to realise it are two entirely different things.

Would have been a great fight, nothing's certain in boxing, but if I was a betting man, I'd bet on RJJ.

 

That may have been true because up until then only boxer punchers had beaten benn eubank and watson.

 

Benn was FINISHED after the McClellan fight. And so would many fighters after such a brutal battle. If this could have happened in place of or before said bout, this would have been incredibly interesting. Afterwards? Jones busts up and stops Benn within three rounds.

If Jones fought Benn instead of Toney to try to set-up a unification with Toney, that would've been cool.

But politically it couldn't have happened, Jones wouldn't fight for King and Benn was under Don. Simple.

 

This would have been a war, one which Benn would have lost but a war nonetheless.
