Did not know that. Didnt even know he had fought in the UK.

Bruno/Magri/Minter v a decent opponent at the Albert Hall on Sportsnight.

 

As I recall the Lewis v Rahman fight was a 2am job. I might be wrong.

 

I remember Lewis being about 2am in the morning?

I was young though so maybe not.

 

That was the same night as Froch v Pacal on ITV and Khan v ***an and de la Hoya v Pacquaio on Sky Box Office.

That equivalent saturday the previous year was an amazing night for boxing over here, with Khan v Earl on ITV, Abraham v Elcock on Setanta, Duddy v Eastman on BBC NI and Mayweather v Hatton on Sky Box office.

Now that was a night of boxing. Amazing to think that those two early december saturdays are only just over a year or two old, but we'll probably not see anything like that again soon.

Those were good times with Nuts. They even showed a few Benn/Eubank classics.

Was Lennox's deal with the BBC only for 1 fight? Bit of a shame that Lennox got sparked. If he'd win the BBC might have shown a greater interest in the sport.

Setanta was ****ing brilliant though. Waking up on a Sunday morning and watching a JCC Jr. fight from the night before

It would be nice to get it on terrestrial TV once in a while though, for so many reasons. For one, boxing wouldn't be the niche sport it is becoming (in the UK anyway)

 

I remember as a pup in the early 90s getting primed for Sat night... ITV boxing. That intro music and seeing the likes of Benn, Eubank and Watson. I used to get so excited. Regrettably when Benn beat McLellan I jumped around like a loon and was so happy that night but I didn'y know what was going on. Still feel bad about that.

 

Remember the mini-campaign to get Marquez v Diaz on Setanta? That was brilliant. And the fight itself was a corker. Glory days for the 21st century boxing fan.
