One of which cant be got on virgin media and one which can. And you wonder why people are criticising him!! atsch
And why were Sky interested in Haye v Valuev? Because of Haye's circus antics. I agree with you, TV are apathetic towards boxing. And that's down to the fact that they dont see it as high profile enough to get a decent return from any investment. Hatton was a phenomenon and could (and probably still can) sell out an arena and get a million PPVs for a glorified sparring session. Outside of that it's up to people to drum up interest. My point is, how can anyone fail to sell the Super six as a concept to the public? There's the issue. Do that and the TV companies will follow. At the end of the day, all TV care about is the $$. Show them that there's enough interest from the public and they knwo they will get their viewing figures and ergo get their advertising. Why wasnt Froch on Question of Sport, Jonathan Ross, Sky Sports News, Soccer AM... f*ckin Jeremy Kyle. I dont care. If the public get interested, it's an easy sale. And I really cant see how it can be difficult to sell such a tournament to a market like British sports fans. Going back to Mick, at the very start of this thread, I said that he had done a good job with match making and I asked the question whether, if Froch had been with FW - would he be in the Super Six at all. But we've moved on from that to now that Froch is in the super six, why does no one know about it?!!!!
Clearly he was negotiating with ITV for the Taylor fight as it was shown on ITV1 on a less than 24 hour delay. 3am US start times are no good for ITV as they're income is based on advertising So you think Mick should have sold the fight to Sky for less money than he could have got off Primetime?? and you say Mick is **** at promoting!! It's unfortunate that Primetime and Virgin can't sort their stuff out, but hey-ho **** happens, just watch it round a mates house who's got Sky :good Personally I'm just happy that the fight is being shown live, Hayemaker promotions have shown what can happen when you lose a TV contract. Primetime and similar channels look to be the future of boxing, as they can pick up the second wave of fights that Sky can't/won't show otherwise we're solely dependent on Sky TV for boxing and that can't be a healthy position for the sport to be in
one that will make £x's and one that will make £2x's atsch I think Mick and Primetime should be commended for getting this fight to us on live TV, he could quite easily go the way of Fight Academy and Hayemaker Promotions, but he's still plugging away. Although with the way that TV couldn't give a toss about boxing I wouldn't be surprised if he does fall to the way side if he can't secure another contract to show the likes of Murray, Barker, Fury etc. which would be a sad sad day for British Boxing as Mick always looks to put on competitive bouts unlike certain other promoters
I can tell you exactly that! ITV are in absolute financial ruin and they decided they were getting out of boxing when they had some new geeza in charge, despite Micks shows picking up very good viewing figures they still aren't interested. He may have been able to give them the fight, but he like everyone else will needs to make the most money
Possibly, but that will be another nail in the coffin for boxing and will leave us solely dependent on Sky like the dim and dark days of the nineties :| (post Benn - McLellan)
Err exactly!! He was first negotating with ITV to have it live aswell as sky and guess what? Nothing happened. I've got virgin media and all the channels yet Carl Froch's two biggest ever fights I havent been able to view (and I assume it'll be the same for Kessler). Spin it any way you want, it is ****ing crap promoting.
To thegifted one (pg 1) I agree whole heartedly with the terrestrial tv companies not standing up. Its a disgrace. But sky? They have been nothing short of superb since the demise of Setanta. Pac and Mayfeather blockbusters shown for free and they came in for Haye, had a masterstroke with Khan, and will always be with Hatton until the end. Then look at the dosmetic fights they show for free every weekend, the night of champions was a great card. Haye was undisputed cruiserweight champ without a massively lucrative contract. (Until he moved up to HW) Froch needs to dump Mick, period, Warren and Froch despise each other. Hatton Promotions would be a corking choice. He would be in with Goldenboy also.
Defo!! Froch has the ball in his court and still isn't worth ****..He deserves more attention and good deals.. Mick is lame and wrong!
The fact that a British world champion isn't on British TV is a crime whatever way people cut it. The End.
