it's been said here, but I have to agree that Golota is at or near the top. I mean Ibeabuchi was even more talented, but as far as a guy who was allowed in the ring, I have a hard time picking anyone over Golota.
roy jones should have accomplished so much more, instead took the easy way. hbo were partly to blame with that insane contract which almost got them bankrupt naseem hamed, sensational talent like roy jones imo, lost his way after the first year of him hitting his prime, biggest waster ever
Hamed is a good one too. I remember after the MAB fight when he was saying he would come back stronger thinking to myself, not a chance.
didnt hopkins do the same? anyway thats not the point, he should have a much better resume also chump...come on you can do better
well, no, he didn't. And nobody else has since, and it will take an unbelievably special talent to do so in the future.
Golota has to be somewhere near the top of this list. In the 90s he had everything you'd ever want from a HW (jab, power, size, speed, chin, combinations and more) but he was a mental case and pissed it all away. By the time he finally mentally matured his skills were badly in decline. Huge waste.
Ike has GOT to be up there!! Along with Calzaghe who could've been a Super MW ATG without Frank Warren, he had outstanding speed, brains and technical ability. Another one has to be Prince Naseem before he let Ingle go as trainer and got lazy as hell. People forget that if it wasnt for the corrupt sanctioning bodies he nearly became the first fighter to hold all four major belts in the same division after knocking out Wilfredo Vasquez in 1998 if the WBA hadnt wanted to avoid their belt being unified with WBO's. Finally Zab Judah. He was almost a Mayweather without the ring intelligence (ok and without the amazing defence). Shows how underrated composure and ring tactics are in a boxer's arsenal.
