To be somewhat fair to Hopkins, Kenny absolutely put him on the spot. He did a good job being articulate and not completely tripping over his tongue. His reasoning (nonsensical to the majority of us) was at least somewhat believable.
I honestly feel as fans, we owe it to guys like b-hop and jones jr to support a fight like this because there is no security fund for boxers. There is no retirement plan. They provided us with a ton of entertainment at the expense of their brain cells and future, we can give in and watch 2 decent legends fight and give them a little more security as they end their careers.
BHOP is deluded if he thinks beating down on RJJ will mean anything he wont be getting any real revenge it is just a freak show.
I think he did a fine job of promoting what is really a pretty meaningless fight. I just think that trying to paint it as historic, or playing up the combined experience angle isn't going to get anyone particularly interested. But playing up the fact that they don't like each other and have built up animosity over more than a decade, well that's interesting.
Atlas doing a fight plan now. Atlas and Eric Mangini together. There hasn't been that much evil in one room a the same time since when Don King and Bob Arum promoted their last fights. Atlas is trying to use football terminology to hype it up now. Atlas says Porter is tall and physical, "playing like Cleveland Browns football." Welp Porter is ****ed then.
I'll be watching the fight. The personal angle is interesting enough to make me tune in. Someone is going to be talking a LOT of **** at the end of this fight. Likely BHop, but you never can tell.
Atlas says that Jordan should let Porter come forward and counter Porter on the inside. Mangini and Atlas licking some Browns' fan nads right now and now I can't wait for the draft.
well, I did watch the jones/lacy fight again, and I must say, roy has hand speed/skill ability that is STILL unearthly.
Exactly right. No one is paying boxers when they wander the streets with pugilistic dementia at the end of their careers. They deserve every penny they can get. That said I still like this as a grudge match.
Well, it depends. I am talking guys like bernard who are so rare. or people with hand speed like roy? We are blessed to see that ****. I would only think guys like meldrick taylor should be considered in the same light.
